The old lady lays quietly at berth along the New Jersey Camden waterfront. It would take a hundred million dollars to refit her for sea duty. She had been totally stripped down for her voyage from the pacific to her final resting place. I boarded her for a tour a few years back with my Marine nephew. She doesn't even have the Harpoon Missile launching pads left.
At least she got a few good rounds in on the mussies during Operation Desert Storm. Her mighty main turrets shall never again shudder in anger at our enemies. How sad.
