LOS ALAMITOS - A nearly two-year plan to bring a one-stop services center for military veterans and a memorial park on the Joint Forces Training Base is coming to light with a dedication ceremony on Sunday at the base.
The $4.5 million plan will bring under one roof a center that will provide dozens of services for veterans throughout Southern California, including help with job placement, educational assistance and family counseling. A heritage park will feature a veteran's memorial, a children's playground and a walking path.
The center will be the first of its kind in Orange County, base officials said. No other center in the area has as many services available for veterans under one roof, with an adjacent memorial park, they said.
