The young Marines are the real heroes, and it is only right that they were well cared for.

Thanks for the great post, radar.

Everyone of our military including past wars should be honored and treasured.

Great email! Thanks for posting this.

By the way, it is sometimes refreshing to read things like this from somebody who obviously doesn’t get on the computer much.

reformatted:

I met and spoke to John Ashcroft last nite,(sat) at a dinner at YAF Reagan Ranch Center. He spoke on leadership and character. Good speaker.

Today Marilyn is going back into town for a presentation of a freedom medal with Oliver North, and a sit down with Bill Clark, President Reagan’s advisor, close friend and Sec. Of The Interior under Reagan. She meets a bunch of interesting people, and you’re going to love this story.

Yesterday, Ron Robinson , the director of Young Americas Foundation,(lives in Virginia) saw three young men outside of the center. When he went out and began talking to them turns out they are Marines on a four day pass from Pendleton.

He invited them to be his guests last nite for dinner and this talk by Ashcroft. They were introduced individually during the dinner, and they got a loud, rousing standing ovation.

The Marines were so touched by this gesture, one actually teared up a little. At the end of the dinner we all sang the Marines Hymn, led by John Ashcroft.

I can’t tell you how proud of Ron for his kindness in bringing these three young heroes in like he did, and how proud I am of Marilyn for being a part of this wonderful organization. One of the Marines told me later,
this “wasn’t exactly what they had in mind when they left Pendleton.”

Only in America!!!
