I also like to see discussion without mudslinging. Hopefully we are all trying to find out the truth about each candidate. I still hope for a Thompson/Hunter ticket!
As far as Free Republic and finding the "truth" about each candidate, I can think of better resources, not to take anything away from this great forum.
The invective between supporters from different camps is nothing about "truth". It is all about emotion and lack of honesty, IMHO.
The Republic would be much better off, if we would start "supporting - and stating our reasons", than "opposing - by pointing out the opponents flaws".
Politicians with the help of the MSM has put us all into small, demographic/racial/economic minorities, with our willing assistance, so we are all fighting each other for our small piece of the pie, rather than pulling together for the good of the Republic!
We have been pandered to long enough, that we take exception when the pandering isn't to our personal liking.
Believe one of our founding fathers said something like, "this great experiment of government of and by the people will work, only to the point that people come to believe they can VOTE themselves anything they want!" Or words to that effect.
