Governor Mitt Romney Announces National Veterans Coalition

Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney announced the Romney for President National Veterans Coalition made up of retired service members from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As part of this national coalition, each member will serve as a surrogate to their local veterans' communities for Governor Romney's message of change in Washington.

"Every American is grateful for the very extraordinary acts our veterans have performed so that we may continue to enjoy freedom at home. I am proud that so many of these men and women have joined our effort to change Washington by organizing grassroots support for our campaign across the country," said Governor Romney.

In Massachusetts, Governor Romney worked with members of both political parties to expand benefits for veterans and members of the National Guard. In Washington, he will do the same. Party identification does not matter when it comes to helping and supporting our nation's veterans.

Governor Mitt Romney On Veterans Day

Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement on Veterans Day:

“Today, we honor the men and women who have served our country in the Armed Forces. Every American is grateful for the very extraordinary acts these men and women have performed so that we may continue to enjoy freedom and liberty at home.

“On this day, we also must recommit ourselves to honoring their service when they return home. Every wounded veteran, fallen soldier and grieving family paid the price for our freedom and our security. All they require is the care they and their families need. We are indebted to them for their service and that debt needs to be paid without delay or inefficiency.

“In Massachusetts, Republicans and Democrats were able to work together to expand benefits for our state’s veterans. In Washington, we must do the same. This is one issue where party identification does not matter. Our men and women are serving in far away places, and they should always be confident that their government stands behind them. On this Veterans Day, let us make a commitment to our military men and women, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, and mothers and fathers truly worthy of the 21st century.”

Will his children head the veteran’s committees?

After all he thinks working for him is the same as fighting for your country!

Aside from Klinton , Romney is the most knee-jerk panderer that I have ever witnessed.
The only issue that he won’t pander on is the Second Amendment . It appears that he supports further gun controls and an extension of the Klinton gun ban - AWB-2 .

The best I would rate him is a little left of California’s governor.

So says the man who never served a day in his life. Ditto for his five sons...never served a day in their lives.

Exactly why he'll never get my vote. If there is one issue I won't compromise on it's the Second Amendment. Molon Labe.

Amen to that ! That’s where he totally lost my support and he hasn’t even made an attempt to reach out on that issue .

“So says the man who never served a day in his life.”

I think he served as some sort of Missionary in France or some such thing during Nam.

He had a high draft number (300) for Vietnam and the war ended before he was called. He said on Hannity they got as far as 198.

He could have volunteered. His sons could have volunteered too.

Lack of service isn't a disqualifier, but it certainly doesn't help that so few of our politicians cared enough when it really counted.

As best as I can tell no Romney male has ever served in the U.S. military. Romney did long to serve in Vietnam but I guess he just couldn’t pull off the enlisting thing.

Romney: “I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”

McCain is the only top tier veteran. After that it’s Hunter, Paul and I’m not sure about Tancredo or the others.

McCain is the only veteran in the top-tier. If it is such an issue ---> he's your man.
