Please pray for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm’s way around the world, and for their families—especially families of those fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who have died in defense of American liberty.

Sorry to say I was not paying attention and when I got back to the capper it was frozen. I just kept punching the mouse and it took the final pic from a long way away and not worth posting. I hope they may show it in a re-cap BUT it is ESPN and we usually only see re-caps of the draft thingy or Tim the techy guy.

That was a beautiful flyover though, the planes looked like they were different colors???

I didn’t know what had happened; just caught the end of the interview with Gibson. So, are they going to send him to the rear of the field or let him fix #1 car?

I had a brain freeze - they're T-38's (the trainer version of the F-5)

#8-Earnhardt Jr. probably broke a transmission and the team plans to change it, so the #8 will have to go to the back of the field.

I know, I’ve always been fond of them. It’s the plane they used as the enemy in Top Gun.

“That’s why they have Eric Carpentier in this race, to get experience, get laps, but that’s not the kind of experience he wants.” Quality narrative brought to you by the disney cha... er.... ESPN.

Almost, we just have to get through this one.

DALE EARNHARDT JR ! ...... "I will be sad for my father that things aren't different," Earnhardt Jr. said. "I'm sad for him - not for me, not for anybody else. I'm just sad because his vision was different. He was such a great person, and his visions were great and worthy and should be realized, and that'll be a shame."

Earnhardt Jr. said he tries not to think about what might have been had his father not been killed in the 2001 Daytona 500. "There's a lot of meat to that, a lot of substance to that thought," he said. "There's a lot of what-ifs if he were here."

Despite walking away from the No. 8 car for the final time, Earnhardt Jr. is excited about the future and said he knows there's a solid support system at Hendrick awaiting him. "People are like, 'You haven't won championships, and now you're going to a team who has won championships, and what if you don't?'" Earnhardt Jr. said. "That's sort of the opposite of the mentality. The mentality is, where can I get that opportunity, where can I find the chance? Where's the best shot? Put me there. Place me in that situation and give me the tools, because I want to know. "I've got questions about my ability and whether I can get it done. I'm confident in my talent and I want to be in the best possible shape every year of my career."

At least his wheels stayed on the car. What’s next? Meteor strike?
