Congress: With the U.S. clearly winning against terrorism in Iraq, the House has passed a new defense bill that requires us to begin withdrawing troops in 30 days. Is it any surprise that Congress is plunging in the polls?
On six major issues — terrorism, the economy, government reform, health care, Iraq, immigration and the deficit — more Americans were "disappointed" or "angry" with Congress than pleased.
Not an enviable record, especially in view of other surveys giving Congress its highest unfavorability ratings ever.
But what do you expect? The Democratic Congress that came to power almost a year ago on a gust of promises for change has turned out to be one of the least-accomplished Congresses in the last century. And that's saying a lot.
Case in point: No fewer than 40 shameful attempts to withdraw troops from an active theater of war. The latest attempt, on Wednesday, was inserted in a $50 billion Iraq War funding bill. It requires combat troops to start coming home within 30 days and virtually all troops to return by Dec. 15, 2008.

I would not say they have done “one thing.” They still have not passed a bill requiring US withdrawal, despite 40 attempts.
That about says it all
