I think how a candidate has responded to situations in the past is very relevant. It's not that it's about Clinton. It's that it's about Thompson and how he read the facts, responded to them, dealt with pressure, etc.

Thommpson is conservative-lite and that may be the best we can get at this point since everyone has squandered time, money and energy on strategy "look at us, we aren't really that conservative" type candidates rather than on true conservatives.

I still say Thompson is more or less McCain without the temper. He may be a little less conservative than McCain.

but McCain is not Presidential by any stretch of the imagination, even though he may be a good person generally. He doesn’t have the “presence” or the statesmanship that is required to have a man of character in that office that we so desparately need (of course, in addition to principles).

McCain will always be a “wanna-be” and will never be the POTUS, nor should he be. He doesn’t command respect at the national level, IMHO.

Thompson can pull it off, AND be an effective, strong leader, which is what we need.

I would LOVE to see him in the debate against Hillary.
