Now, in his early eighties, Flew has rejected atheism and said he believes that God exists. He does not espouse the Christian God, but calls himself a Deist. He says he has a lifelong commitment to following the evidence where it leads, and that new advances in the sciences have shown him that materialism and Darwinism simply cannot account for the world as it is and life as it is. Examining the fine-tuning of the universe and the mind-boggling complexity of the cell (a compexity that evolution presumes but cannot explain), Flew now believes that the design of the universe requires a designer. He gives his reasons in a new book There Is a God which is co-authored with Roy Abraham Varghese.

Good for him.
The “fine-tuning” of the Universe (also known as the Strong Anthropic principle) is an excellent argument for a Designer.
Intelligent design should be taught in the schools as a theory just like evolution (SCHEMA!).
PING!
Got my copy of his book today! Can’t wait to read...
My 7 year old son was asked at school what three things he was thankful for, he replied: God, Jesus, and the Pope. - I hope Our Lord is understanding of my pride.
Did you read the one article that claimed the two influenced him in a dishonest way, taking advantage of his old age, failing memory and god knows what else. I don’t know what to believe about all this.
Some of that is discussed here.

I’ve read some of Carrier’s stuff. Seeing that he claimed the Essenes were Samaritans (that got me ROTFLMHO) and a friend who was quite good with Greek and history found some of Carrier’s claims in those areas to be eye-raising (to say the least), I don’t pay too much attention to Carrier.
