'Sweet man' faces deportation

LEGAL BATTLE | Jewish neighbors don't believe he helped Nazis kill

The U.S. Justice Department announced Thursday an order to deport Osyp "Joe" Firishchak, an 88-year-old Chicago man they say lied about his role in persecuting Jewish civilians in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II in order to live in the United States.

In stark contrast to the government's claims, Firishchak's Jewish next- door neighbors in Chicago said he is a "sweet, wonderful man" who is a tragic victim of an overzealous government.

Firishchak emigrated to the United States in 1949 and became a citizen in 1954. He has until Dec. 10 to appeal the deportation order by U.S. Immigration Judge Robert Vinikoor. Neither Firishchak nor his attorney could be reached for comment.

The order is the latest twist in a legal battle Firishchak has waged to clear his name and stay in this country. Following testimony in a 2005 trial, U.S. District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan revoked Firishchak's citizenship, calling Firishchak's efforts to deny his past "shameless" and "cowardly."

Prosecuting Firishchak were attorneys with the Justice Department's Office of Special Investigations, dedicated to rooting out war criminals living in the United States.

The government's allegations were that Firishchak, as a member of the Nazi-controlled Ukrainian Auxiliary Police, helped annihilate a Jewish ghetto of 100,000 people. They also claim he guarded posts so Jews couldn't escape, hunting down those who attempted to flee.

David and Dara Salk, who have lived next door to Firishchak and his wife for 15 years, don't believe these claims. They said he is suffering from cancer and walks with a cane. They said Firishchak met his wife, who is Austrian, in a camp for displaced people after the war.

"This is really sad that this is what our government has to waste money on," said David Salk.

Greg Gordon, who prosecuted Firishchak in 2005 and now teaches at the University of North Dakota law school, said the evidence during the trial was clear.

"He was with the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police during a time when they were committing horrendous atrocities against the Jewish population," Gordon said.

Amazing they can find and deport an 88 year old geezer who lied to get into the country 58 years ago. But they can neither find nor deport a 28 year old gang banger who sneaked in last year.

The geezer should look on the bright side however. His wife is Austrian and he should therefore be able to live in the wonderful world of European socialized medicine.

My dog is a cat because he has orange shoes and rain is rare in the Sahara.

That is what ICE is doing now, looking for the kinds of stories that generate sympathy press for the illegals rather than doing their job. They probably have orders to do this.

Here’s my standard post. We can do something about Illegal immigration.

RICO —Citizen Recourse

Private persons and entities may initiate civil suits to obtain injunctions and treble damages against enterprises that conspire to or actually violate federal alien smuggling, harboring, or document fraud statutes, under the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO). The pattern of racketeering activity is defined as commission of two or more of the listed crimes. A RICO enterprise can be any individual legal entity, or a group of individuals who are not a legal entity but are associated in fact, and can include nonprofit associations.

Here’s what I’ve been pushing: it’s time to file Racketeering, Influencing, and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuits.

RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. I’m surprised they haven’t done it already.

In the absence of enforcement, we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens.

Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, I’m going to point out that the victim’s family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and they’ll all simply want to go back home.

Hunter is the best candidate on Immigration.

Why the smart money is on Duncan Hunter

“Jewish neighbors don’t believe he helped Nazis kill “

They may be right.
They may be fooled.

But now and then we just have to wake up and accept “The Banality
of Evil”.
E.g., how a failed chicken farmer like Himmler could become the second-in-
command in The Third Reich and send millions to their deaths.
