He loses against her in his home State. Even FRed does better in Mass. than Myth does. (Rasmussen)
Hmmm, why does that remind me of the father of the internet???
Issue wise, I think he's crossed the Rubicon. Yes, he's done the backflip with half twist more than once but he makes a decent case that he has honestly seen the light.
I won't be sending him any dough any time soon but I'd much prefer him to Rudy Giuliani but that's just my preference.
My sentiments exactly.
However I feel Romney pays "lipservice" sympathy but not real action toward some more liberal positions simply as a way to maintain support among moderate and (yikes) Democrat voters.
Even my favorite conservative, Ronald Reagan, compromised somewhat when he felt it necessary.
In retrospect, Reagan probably compromised too much -- but politicians at the time often feel it necessary to get things done.
I believe Romney is sincere in his move toward more hardened conservative conservatism.
It really irks me when some Freepers throw hate bombs at Romney for doing what most conservatives ALSO did in office.
Romney is so squeaky clean.
And THAT should add an extra layer of support among those who are repulsed by the Clintonoid scandals, not to mention some of the GOP scandals of the past five or six years (think Foley, Abrahamoff, Larry Craig, that California congressman, etc)
Reagan had a ‘light’ schedule. So did Eisenhower, Coolidge, and Taft.
NO THANKS!
I'm from MA and I can't vote for Mitt. Most of the folks above are RINOs, aka Main Street Republicans. Not sure about Kean...
Sure they want you to have a productive skill, so you will be a good, ignorant producer. But don’t be getting any ideas about the Republicrat Plantation.
Old story, Roman Empire.
Thanks!
It’s disappointing that so many here operate with an “either/or” mentality in the pursuit of ideological purity.
They remind me of my Dad when he’s driving. He refuses to yield because, by law, he’s right, but meantime he’s going to get his passengers killed!
I was not offended at all.
Living here is weird. Everywhere that I go I cannot shake from my head the realization that the people all around and about me are largely voting for folks that I honestly despise.
Massachusetts is in for some really hard times in the next few years. People are leaving in droves.
Someday they will probably turn this area into some sort of a museum.
If he pulls it off, he will make election history and the resultant free MSM generated publicity will be worth tens of millions.
Rudy's national lead and higher "name recognition" will be worth bupkis.
... plus a list of accomplishments that stand out, plus a platform that is pro-growth, tough on immigration, for fighting against jihadist extremists, lower taxes, plus support of traditional marriage and a wonderful family; plus a standout campaign that is wellorganized, and a candidate who is super energetic.
Mitt Romney is a good candidate, good campaign, he would make a good President, and he’s winning. Money’s just one part of it.
“Mitt is the closest candidate we have to Reagan in terms of energy and commitment.”
Ultimately, that is why Mitt will win the nomination.
He’s AVIS ... HE TRIES HARDER.
And frankly, I dont mind at all because that is what we need to defeat Hillary.
Yeah, like falling for socialized medicine. Although his recent pronouncements on policy are more acceptable than his record as governor of Massachusetts, he has no record demonstrating a commitment to that "change of heart." Pronouncements are all you've got and that ain't much.
Mitt Romney is a very capable administrator. I'd love to see him in charge of HHS, not as a President.
Accomplishments:
- Saving the SLC Olympics
- Building up multiple companies through the venture capital firm he founded
- turning around a large company
- Governor
... He’s not just an administrator, he’s a leader.
“Yeah, like falling for socialized medicine.” - you’ve fallen for a myth. Heritage Foundation designed his plan.
