ROME, March 27 — It seemed generous enough at first: the government offers 170,000 permits for immigrants to work in Italy. But within days the program, and immigration itself, once again became an incendiary political problem.

IMHO, Illegal Immigration is a tool of the WORLDWIDE left..they see illegal voting, corrupting elections as the route to power. This, in the end , is the real issue of the 2008 elections in the USA.
