We don’t have any ruthless candidates this year; all our Republicans are afraid to be ruthless.

“There’s still time. I do wish however, that Hunter would get out there and start mixing it up. Loudly.

He’s far too well-behaved.”

Hunter is retiring and turning over his seat to his son, that is what this campaign is largely about, he would not want to act in a way that would hurt his sons taking over his district.

Huckabee sounds like a “Lazio Republican” — one afraid to take HRC on frontally.

Speaking of SC, whatever happened to the “tough” Republican who was going to challenge L. Graham in the primary? He must have “chickened” out. I guess people in SC still believe in Graham after all.

I heard a radio host yesterday read something that the “Western Wats” is a firm that has been used by Giuliani in the past.

Gosh darn it, that’s funny.

And true.

If I were running a left-wing group trying to sabotage Romney, or any other GOP candidate, I would use an organization that had prior dealings with the GOP, in order to divert attention to my group.

I meant “divert attention AWAY from my group”.

Interesting. Do you recall which one?

Man, it would be juicy to catch Rudi with his thumb in this thing.

Romney will be fine, he has protective underpants.

For all my own little quips about magic underwear, you do know they are just ordinary men's T's and biker briefs that have a couple tiny Masonic monograms on them and are worn to remind Mormons of their spiritual commitment? I'm not sure whether the church or a designated group of suppliers reap unusual profits from them but I would tend to doubt it. Probably modest but steady profit for the suppliers.

It's not much different than wearing a wedding ring to remind you (and others) of your solemn commitment to your spouse. Who knows, it may have some effect in deterring adultery. You would generally have to remove those garments to commit adultery or fornication and could not ignore the symbols and the commitment. Seems pretty harmless overall, maybe even does some good.

Except that it is hidden magical undergarments and not a ring.

Well, aren't undergarments intended to be hidden and only visible to the person wearing them and those who are intimate with them? So it seems to me.

You make it sound like they're concealing white supremacist tattoos or gang affiliation tattoos or yakuza tattoos.

It just breaks into silliness. Who cares what little Masonic symbols they have on their undergarments anyway. The Mittster doesn't always wear them anyway. You may recall one of the things that helped him win the women's vote in MA was a photo of him and the family where he was shirtless.

This whole notion of the Mitt as some crypto-Supermormon has worn thin and was always silly.

Personally, I think the whole "boxers or briefs" thing that started with the Xlintons is just stupid. FR isn't People Magazine.

Fine with me if you don't like him for being too liberal or a flipflopper or whatever. But I think you're an idiot if you vote against him over underwear.

Tell me, would you object if Mike Huckabee's wife monogrammed tiny Christian crosses onto his undergarments? Or if he carried an expensive ballpoint pen with a Christian symbol on it? Do you object only to religious symbols that aren't worn on the sleeve?

The pictures I have seen show them to be something else entirely, about 2/3rds long johns.

Pretty standard T-shirt, mid-thigh biker short briefs. There are likely more modern versions too. The pictures on Wikipedia are for one style of post-1979 garment. I would guess that Mormons have modernized men's underwear like everyone else. All men's underwear was pretty boring back in 1979. A colored Y-front was considered over the top.
Temple garment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mormon-Underwear.com (explanations from a Mormon perspective)
I would expect that Mitt would wear these to his temple, much as a Jew would wear a yarmulke.

You may recall there are other instances where Mitt is clearly not wearing the temple garment. The photos of him playing volleyball with his sons is one. The same is true of that commercial he made of him jogging briskly through woods. If inspected closely, clearly he is wearing a standard singlet and rather short running shorts which could not possibly conceal mid-thigh length briefs.

It doesn't make him a bad Mormon. It just means that Mitt takes his Mormonism in moderation, sees it as a background for transmitting positive family values. He is, by all appearances, a practical man in his religion.

Anyway, it's too gay to be quite that interested in another man's underwear. Especially with Rudi's fondness for wearing crotchless panties with panty hose and garters and fake boobs. So I just don't care if Mitt goes running with a couple of little Masonic symbols on his jockstrap. I'm just not a wide-stanced Larry Craig Republican.

[Pinged a few others who may or may not be Mormone but are Mittsters to see if they want in. Not a signal for a pile-on. I routinely flag members of other churches if I discuss some religious distinctive so they can chime in if they like.]

Thanks for italicizing my poorly proofed grammar, btw...

Howie Carr, syndicated out of WRKO, Boston. I don't remember what he was reading it from, though.

It was also his first day back from about a two month contract dispute.

Generally pretty friendly toward Romney, but not afraid to call him out on the carpet when he thinks Romney is screwing up and/or pandering, like Romney did his last year as governor.

Thanks. Worth researching for more ties between Rudi and Western Wats.

I'm almost afraid to ask what humblegunner thinks of those Jewish folks who don't merely wear a garment next to their skin but who involuntarily circumcise children for life. It isn't just religious underwear. It's altering the sexual flesh for religious reasons. And it's hidden from public view. Who knows what they're up to with that? </sarcasm>

I don’t care, I just didn’t want you to get away with that false description of Mormon underwear.

In the picture at your link it looked to be about 2/3rds long johns.

And you really care that much about Mitt’s underwear that he wears to church?
