Translation - the Association of Muslim Scholars are a bunch of morons who almost single-handedly enabled the Shiites to kick our asses in 2006. If we had had people in the Army and police, we might have been able to stop the Shiite militias from ethnically cleansing Baghdad and its suburbs. But we didn't and, as a result, the Shiite militias were able to run riot on us.
What is bothersome is that until the surge, many politicians were ready to surrender. While it is still a close run thing in Iraq, the long war promises even more fights. With such weak leaders, how long will it be until they overpower those willing to defend us, throw in the towel, and wreck our future?
Magooey
Thanks for the ping! This is a very positive article and I am of the opinion that the tipping point has been reached. It seems as if the effort is really snowballing......to the chagrin of those who want us to fail.
WOW!
You’re right...things just keep getting better and better!
PTL!
Thank you for the ping!
Now, can we do this here to CNN and other such supporters of Al Qaeda?
hello...Sunni Arabs
"Americas victory in Iraq means that both Al Qaeda and Iran have been defeated... simultaneously.
Now heres a question to consider: Was this George Bushs goal all along?
He has always maintained that the War in Iraq was being conducted to fight them there so we dont have to fight them here. Them seems now to mean both varieties of Moslem terrorists: Sunni Al Qaeda-types and Shia Iranian-types.
GW identified Iraq as the one place both of them could be taken down at the same time. Iraq as a two-fer! Yes, the man can be scary-smart. With painful obviousness, not all the time. But when he is, he can hit a geopolitical ten-strike."
I like what I am seeing over there, and Bush deserves the credit. There isn’t anyone who has been more steadfast than him on Iraq.
But there is hope for Harry now....

AP declares: The United States is now winning the war that two years ago seemed lost

At long, long last, weve reached the mouth of the river Denial. I cant quote much because its the AP, but theres no earthly excuse not to read all of this one anyway. Do note the biographical info on the authors at the end, too. This isnt a pair of stringers talking. These are their two top guys throwing their full weight behind the conclusion.
Insurgency effectively over, militias largely discredited, violence creeping ever downward, war supporters coast to coast knocking as hard as they can on wood:
This amounts to more than a lull in the violence. It reflects a fundamental shift in the outlook for the Sunni minority, which held power under Saddam Hussein. They launched the insurgency five years ago. They now are either sidelined or have switched sides to cooperate with the Americans in return for money and political support
Iraqi authorities have grown dependent on the U.S. military after more than five years of war. While they are aiming for full sovereignty with no foreign troops on their soil, they do not want to rush.
See #29!

Thats a different Burns (John). This (AP) is Robert Burns.
McCain still needs to connect Obamas dreadful error - which wasnt just his opposition to the surge but his view that the presence of our troops was the chief cause of the violence (source) - to the dangers attendant with an Obama Presidency.
Forward John, not back.

Thanks for posting this ... more evidence of the level of defeat Obama wants to snatch from the jaws of victory.
Obama's Speech at Woodrow Wilson Center ( Published August 1, 2007 ....revisiting History is useful)
Fn traitor!
Obama, McCain accuse each other of shifting on Iraq (CNN's new idea of political fairness)
Thanks for the ping. This is victory.
Thanks Tennessean4Bush and Ernest_at_the_Beach.
