And the Grand Ole Opry just invited Charlie Daniels to join them. Quite an honor. And Charlie would have no trouble telling the dems exactly what he thinks of them and their anti-American attitudes.

I don’t think a good song has any damned politics to it. I don’t mean these disposable “flavor of the month” chart songs. Real songs which continue to evoke the heart, stir the soul or awaken the mind of the listener. And, as for distinctions between “country”, “rock” or “pop” or whatever - mostly the difference is whether the guitar player used a Telecaster or a Les Paul - or maybe a pedal-steel rather than a string section. People should realize that radio is not in the music business. Radio is in the business of selling commercials to car dealers.

Merle Haggard has become a punk in his old age.

Sad to see.

To me, this partly reflects the disconnect between Nashville “country” (a/k/a overproduced pop music with guitars) and real country music, which by and large you do not hear on the radio

The local country pop station around here plays less real country music than the local classic and southern rock station. I hear more Charlie Daniels on the classic rock station than I do the country station.

Of course, that's OK, because I really like the classic rock too.

Countryfied comedian Jeff Foxworthy tells it like it is

http://hotair.com/archives/2007/04/21/jeff-foxworthy-tells-it-like-it-is/

He says country music isn’t about politics (some would not agree) but it is about the brave soldiers...
“Country music doesn’t have to be politically correct.
We sing about God because we believe in him...We get up and go to work, we get up and go to church, and we get up and go to war when necessary”

Rap music doesn’t appeal to most country music lovers.

I enjoy both genres very much.

Oh please. There is more talent in country music then all the crap put together that is out there today.

in mainstream music, yeah. but that's not a real accomplishment. who are you wanting to compare them to? kanye? eminem? britney? licoln park? jlo?
if you want to hear some mainstream talent, try checking out Phil Anselmo.
but if you want to see the real talent, check out local jazz or blues bands. just about any of them will blow away 90% of mainstream music in the talent category.

How many of these Country music stars have performed in Iraq? I bet none come close to the number of times Toby Keith has been there. Also, if they don’t hurry up with their anti-war theme, the war will be over. How can the Democrats cashin on public dismay over the war if the public finds out we’ve won?

Let’s put a woman in charge.
OK, vote for my wife then. I don't think she'd stand up and tell you she has any particular qualifications for the job. But then, at least she's honest - and Hillary has a rap sheet as long as your arm, and no real qualifications for the job, either.

Country meets rap: Save a horse, ride a cowboy, y’all

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country-rap

“Country-rap is the addition of country music influences under hip hop music-style rapping. The style is known by several other names, such as “hick hop,” “hill hop,” “hip hopry,” and “country hip hop”...Toby Keith has released two songs which are considered country rap: “Getcha Some” (1998) and “I Wanna Talk About Me” (2001).

Most country music Democrats (like Toby Keith) are like the old Democrats. Not the nit-wit leftists that have taken over the party. There is a difference between not being gung ho about a war and not supporting the troops.

The “woman in charge” sentiment comes from Merle Haggard, who is apparently becoming hagard.

The only woman I want in charge of this country is already too old and isn’t even from this country:

Maggie Thatcher.

The only one from their page who I recognize is Nanci Griffith, who’s an old, old hippie (so I’m not at all surprised), but a very talented one. This tells me that the other 1200+ have even less name recognition - possibly “auxiliary members” whose only qualification is owning a musical instrument and ponying up the membership fee.

There’s nothing wrong with Classic Rock (except I pretty much grew up with it and I’m pretty much tired of it by now). I discovered that more interesting music existed by the way of Texas Hill Country music, Delta blues, country swing, barroom honky-tonk, and Cajun fiddle tunes, among others. The problem is, when I turn on the local “country” FM stations, all I hear is: Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, Faith Hill,
Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. Even Toby Keith seems to have become too “country” for Country radio.

I always thought that was strange that the other members of the Dixie Chicks never went on the record about Maines’ statement for a couple of years and the media let it rest. They finally declared their full support of her and what she said 18 months ago on their Larry King interview.

They ought to have some great songs coming out — “I’m gonna have an abortion/ cain’t nobody tell me not to” and maybe “Don’tcha love it when they raise taxes in Texas?” hahaha. The liberal morality SO does not fit in; I certainly won’t add the libs to my music list.
