level the playing field for U.S. manufacturers

Uh, someone needs to explain to Duncan who exactly is off-shoring American industry. It's not China.

*************

It’s greedy businessmen looking for cheap foreign labor, and everything Hunter said about Chinese protectionist policies.

The off-shoring is caused by U.S. government policies. Heavy regulation and high taxes. It's easier to get a return on an investment when you don't have to wait for years to build, encumber your factories with all manner of mandated equipment then pay huge taxes on top of all that other interference.

When the socialists in Congress fix their stupid tax and regulation policies, there may be interest in making capital investments in the United States.

I would happily start a business in southeast Idaho, but the state insists on a personal property tax on every non-business physical object on the business premises. Screw that. It certainly explained why so many businesses have such a spartan appearance around here.

Correct.

"level the playing field"

A buzz-phrase used by Clinton and Bush that I find reprehensible when factoring in China. I'm surprised at Hunter.

He hasn’t had kind words for these multinational companies. There was an article by him somewhere lambasting these corporations; you still have it somewhere Cal?
