Veterans who served on the U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier presented Jim Brossard with a certificate and flag for cutting down a Mexican flag that was flying over a U.S. flag at a Reno bar.
To fly the American flag underneath the Mexican flag, it just defies everything, said Wayne Erven, West Coast representative of the U.S.S. Intrepid Association Inc. Our flag goes on top. Thats the honor we give our flag.
Brossard said he has no regrets.
If I hadnt done that then Im afraid it wouldnt have gotten done, he said. I was ready and fully willing to accept any consequences, legally or any other, that might have come in my direction.
So what did happen to him?

Im Jim Brossert and I took this flag down in honor of my country with a knife from the United States army. Im a veteran, I am not going to see this done to my country. if they want to fight us, then they need to be men, and they need to come and fight us, but I want somebody to fight me for this flag. Theyre not going to get it back.

The Reno police department has told krnv that Brossert will faces charges for theft if the store owner files a police report of what happened.
Similar incidents have previously been reported in Maywood, CA., Tucson, Arizona, and Jupiter, Florida.

I can not find any articles after these first ones on the incident to say he was actually charged. Maybe the owner didn't press charges.
