you cannot carry anything about you in public that is for the express purpose of being used as a weapon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Not entirely true. In Scotland one is allowed to wear a dirk and a Sgian Dhu as exempt from the prohibition on public knife carrying, under the heading,"national dress."
I know, I was there as a gues and did it, got a few glances from bobbies, but they said nothing to me. I was kilted.
So there are are also ways to arm yourself still in Britain. If I lived there, I would have membership in several shooting clubs.
Brits would be better off if they organized such clubs in each and every borough throughout the country.

No, a life sentence is a life sentence. 17 years is when they are eligable for release on parole. Once they are released, they are effectively on parole for the rest of their lives, and if they break the terms of their release, theyre back inside to continue serving their life sentence...Gotcha.... The killer is released after 17 years but is really still serving a life sentence. It's a "virtual" life sentence. And he goes from "virtual" jail back to real jail after he kills somebody else. Rinse and repeat.

The Laws governing the ownership of guns and the right to carry weapons in public reflects public opinion, which frowns upon American-style gun laws and people wandering around with offensive weapons upon their person. Elitism doesnt come into it....What is an "offensive weapon?"

If you are attacked, you are allowed to use reasonable force using anything you might happen to have on you. Wow, that sucks.
I'm allowed to "use" this:
except mine's .40 cal.

Judge Hodson lifted an order which banned publication of the details of the two younger defendants. Good for him!
