You are talking from a position of ignorance. This judge is not to blame for strict gun control laws. The fact is Britain has never been big on gun ownership. Gun control legislation has always been passed on a wave of popular support in the aftermath of prominent atrocities committed by deranged gun owners such Michael Ryan and Thomas Hamilton who were responsible for Hungerford and Dunblane respectively.

This judge has laid down as harsh a sentence as he can in the circumstances. ‘Whole Life’ tarriffs are usually reserved only for serial killers or otherwise particularly heinous murderers.
The Laws governing the ownership of guns and the right to carry weapons in public reflects public opinion, which frowns upon American-style gun laws and people wandering around with offensive weapons upon their person. Elitism doesn’t come into it....

I appreciate your effort to educate me... While I was not focused soley on Gun Control Laws...

The Judge flat stated being armed with a knife is cowardly.

One supposes the Beefeaters and the Queens Guards and all my Cousins in the British Isles who have ever defended themselves either individually or as a nation against tyranny are Cowards by the Judges description.

I know a disabled Soldier who can no longer see well, is missing parts, walks with a limp and falls down stone sober all from the injuries he received as a Soldier.

Why in God’s name should he be subjected to abuse, ridicule, scorn, be subject to robbery or murder because he cannot “fight like a man” against a gang of IslamoFacist Scum or the Common Street Hood.

Why should any law abiding citizen he stood in defense of suffer such a fate?

In America that Soldier in all but the fewest places can walk down the streets he stood in defense of. Travel with the family he loves and if push comes to shove defend them effectively, violently with lethality visiting the same threat of death upon the criminal or political assassin they would so happily seek to visit upon him..

Are my British Cousins less men? Do their loved ones deserved less defense.. Shall the “Cowards in the Commons” declare the daughters and wives of true Britons be the Sexual Playthings of the the Islamofacist Rapists “Lebanese Style”.

Tommys, Canuks, Aussies and New Zealanders I have served with deserve far better than that.

I believe all my fellow citizens of the West deserve better than that.

Now it is for us all to see they receive their due.

To be Armed Freemen...

Masters of our Governments not Subjects.

Our Forefathers in the West since 500BC have fought and died for that right..

Who are the few pusillanimous Quislings and Chamberlains of this age to surrender that for all of us?

You’ve “never been big” on “American-style” individual liberty, either. Perhaps a police state is your only hope.

Elitism doesn’t come into it....

Bullsh**.

Can't have the peasants armed, that's all. And that's just about as elitist as it gets.

The fact is Britain has never been big on gun ownership

Britain learned that lesson when it let American colonists have guns.

A peculiarity of island nations, actually. Can't have the peasant revolting, and whatnot.

What is an "offensive weapon?"
