This could change society as we know it.

A roofer could do a roof in 1/2 a day. Hell, any construction worker could double, even triple their productivity.

Old people could get their strength and speed back.

Factory workers already are being replaced by robots, but these things would find their way into every job. Just think about loading a truck. where the human is needed to plan the load.

Walking could replace vehicles.

Need more brainstorming. These were right off the top of my head.

Pair one of these up with software that has learning capability, and you could create generic robots that could be "trained" to do all sorts of different tasks. The only difficulty would be sensors to recognize the work pieces.

An obvious application is a strength magnifier for workers in extended-care homes. A 90 lb woman could lift a former line-backer out of bed with no problem.

BTW, for any location-specific application, battery power will not be an issue. Even today’s batteries would provide hours of use — and a charging station would be located nearby. It would just be a matter of swapping batteries.

I’m amazed at the agility of the prototype. I’ve been reading about exoskeletons for years & I always pictured early versions moving like a zombie, or like a kid playacting a robot.

This will be a world-changing technology in short order. For one thing, exoskeletons will boost productivity in labour-intensive jobs so much that no one will ever "need" to hire another illegal immigrant.

The cable trailing behind it probably supplies the power. The big obstacle for fielding one of those would be the battery

Weaker leg amputees could walk and dance.
