Duncan D. Hunter Congressional Campaign Leads Race for Funds
Hunter in 08 ^ | October 16, 2007 | Dave Gilliard

La Mesa, CA – In spite of the fact that their candidate is serving his country 8000 miles away, the Duncan D. Hunter for Congress campaign announced today that they are leading all challengers in the race for campaign funds, according to campaign reports filed yesterday with the Federal Elections Commission.

The Hunter for Congress committee has raised $170,730 this year – all of it while Duncan D. Hunter, a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, has been serving in Afghanistan.

“The outpouring of financial support for Captain Hunter’s campaign has been amazing,” said Hunter campaign consultant Dave Gilliard. “To raise this much money without our candidate being able to make a single phone call, is a real testimony to the work of Duncan’s wife, Margaret and the entire campaign team. Everyone is working very hard to make sure Duncan can hit the ground running when he returns home later this year.”

The 52nd Congressional District has been represented by Congressman Duncan Hunter since his election in 1980. Congressman Hunter is seeking the Republican nomination for President and has announced he will not run for reelection to the House of Representatives in 2008. His son, Captain Duncan D. Hunter, announced his candidacy shortly before being activated earlier this year for his third tour of duty with the USMC since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.

If we can't put a Hunter in the White House, let's at least return one to the House!

I had the good pleasure of meeting Duncan Hunter senior in Ames Iowa, where we had a 5 minute private conversation. We discussed Iraq and the Kurdish nationalism problem, which is now boilng over.

Since then, and after voting for Tom Tancredo in the Iowa Straw poll, I have come to fully support Duncan Hunter For President.

I think his son will make a great statesman also.

I really like Duncan Hunter and have no doubt he would be the best President the conservatives could elect. The rinos like Rudy and he will lose the presidency is the GOP runs the gun grabbing, immigrant supporting, evangelical Christian bashing, pedophile protecting liberal Rudy. I will vote third party is the rinos run Rudy just to spite the rinos who are running a liberal. You saw what Arnold and Bloomberg and others turned into when elected.

Welcome, larry. Everyone who gets to hear and see Hunter is impressed. Which is why the media does their best to marginalize him. Wouldn’t want to give the republicans a candidate to get excited about would they?

Smart thinking for a Congressman to name his son after himself. Reminds me of that Eddie Murphy movie where he used his middle name to run for office, and won a seat based on name recognition.

Husband: “Who is it we vote for for Congress”?

Wife: “Duncan Hunter”.

Husband: “Oh, right”.

No need to know its a different Duncan Hunter.

I think it is Duane Duncan Hunter so the name is not precisely the same. However, both are Reagan Republicans AND shocking enough they are that most unusual of political species: men with stones enough to volunteer for the toughest military units and go to war with them. Isn't that a contrast to the sons of others who are tuning in the television and watching young mothers their age deploy to hazardous fire areas while they stay home.
