Personally, if PLAN was in fact conducting exercises (which I doubt), I'd like to have seen the Kitty Hawk Strike Group sail right through them on their way back to Japan.

The bottom line, the ChiCom's are lying enemies....

Indeed, you were posting your apology for your being a screw up 58 seconds prior to my posting the correction of yet another one of your screw ups.

BTW, learning something about carrier battle group port calls in Hong Kong would have prevented you from exposing yourself as an even bigger screw up which you have yet to issue an apology for.

The decision was reversed, but only after the KH CSG had turned around and headed back to Japan...after it was too late for the sailors to spend their Holiday in Hong Kong as planned with many of their family members who had flown ahead to be there with them. So the sailors spent the holiday at sea and I am sure that they will tell you that the reversal meant exactly what it was worth...absolutely nothing.

Normally a silly game that the Chicoms play all the time, this time there were probably a thousand or more girls in HK waiting for the sailors, and the sailors itching to see them. Talk about a way to p*ss off a sailor - probably no other way to p*ss’em off more. Smart move, Chicomms.

This decision was reversed — Nice of you to do a translation, but a regular news search might have been more productive.

Why waste our time with articles that don't give any information? A better question is why would you attack another FReeper that went to the trouble to give us the straight scoop, telling us more than the entire Western media has done?

What we really need to do is vote out all the corrupt politicians, who’ve got investments in China and often put China before America to protect their own investments. That means Congress, the White House, the State department and the USTR’s office.

Thanks for the ping/translation. I knew there had to be something behind this and the decision to reverse their refusal was less than sincere because they knew there was no way the battle group would turn around and return to port.

"the final outcome — that the Kitty Hawk group was allowed to dock for Thanksgiving."

Is this true?! My son sent an e-mail on the 21st saying that they were not going to Hong Kong after all. He was kind of disappointed. His ship has been there before and really liked it there. He's not on the Kitty Hawk. He's on one of the accompanying destroyers. Anyway, we haven't heard from him since then! Maybe you're right! Do you have a link about it?

the Chinese foreign minister met with President Bush on Wednesday and blamed the incident on “a misunderstanding.”

Thanks for the PING. I saw this earlier to today and am reminded that the cold war isn’t over, and now we are not only in a cold war with Russia, but China as well.
