Yes I do do pork gravy with it. I usually put water in the roasting tin and the juices from the meat mix with the water and I then add this to stock made from Pork stock cube the make in Britain I use is Knorr. Add some flour for thickening and any meat juices that come out of the joint when carved and that is my gravy very simple and traditional.
Sometimes I also add some fresh rosemary from the garden.
The yams sound interesting I must check out if we can get them in Britain or maybe they are called something else.
One popular way of doing it in Britain is rolling it into small balls and putting it on a baking sheet and cooking in the oven till crisp.
Normally I stuff the bird as I think it keeps it moist and adds flavour but this was a rolled joint so could not stuff anything anywhere. I would not normally serve stuffing with it but I had some left over from Thursday when I stuffed the duck so rather than throw it away I refrigerated it and cooked it today.
My Thanksgiving duck
Absolutely right. She is the most controlled, controlling and scripted candidate ever, and the reason is because she HAS to be. She cannot be allowed to wing it, not ever.
:o)
Trouble is, all or nothing has gotten us exactly NOTHING over the last 35 years, and it hasn't been for lack of trying. EV is even now taken to trashing the National Right to Life Committee, which has done more than any one or any group, with the exception of Operation Rescue, to try to change peoples' hearts and minds, and the law on this issue.
When you keep beating your head against a locked door, it might instead be best to start thinking about how to pick the lock.
Whatever they have or haven’t done in the past means little in the face of those facts.
I don't think Fred will win Iowa or New Hampshire, nor do I think he has to, but I do think he has to do "better than expected" in Iowa or folks will start looking for alternatives in SC and the rest of Fred's current "base." I have a feeling that the immigration issue is going to become very important in Iowa and that it will help Fred and hurt Huckabee. If FDT beats either Romney or Huckabee, whichever comes in behind of those two, to take second, I think the nomination is almost instantly his. If he just crowds the second place finisher (so long as 2nd is fairly close to the winner) then he comes out with Clinton's "come back kid" status.
The current negative drumbeat from places like Fox will actually help in this scenario.
NH can be written off as "home state advantage" for Romney and not meaningful.
Interesting phrase of words .. I like it :0)
We’ll agree to disagree.
His priority is terrorism, Iraq and our safety, and he’s repeatedly brought news of the events and progress to the people. The people, helped by the Dims and the partisan media, are sick of Iraq and the talk of terrorism. They want to hear about Paris, Britney or the next hi-tech gadget.
May they continue to safely live in that delusion and have the luxury of that continuing indifference... thanks to the efforts of Pres. Bush and our unparalleled, awesome troops.
The “yams” are actually sweet potatoes. I don’t know why they are called yams because they are not true yams, although they are labeled “yams” on the cans, with the words “Sweet Potatoes” in parentheses below “Yams”. So, it’s basically the dish you prepared, but without sugar, and with nutmeg, topped with marshmallows.
That’s the traditional method here, too, although I have been known to cheat and use corn starch instead of flour. When you make the gravy in the roasting pan like that you get all those crusty bits from the roast. It makes for a wonderfully complex flavor.
I apologize for misreading your intent. It was a scandal the way that man was treated.
Starwise,
I’m always glad when someone is civil enough to agree to disagree, if that’s where we are. And I take it we do disagree on the communication issue. But as to respect and gratitude for both the troops and Pres. Bush on Iraq and the War on Terror, I believe we are totally agreed. I hope I conveyed as much.
Warm regards,
Traitors, scoundrels, and hypocrites.
;)
Just a thought. Or, actually, a hope. of course, that would also require a brokered convention, instead of a late summer formality.
“It causes me real pain to open my checkbook, but I do feel the urge to do so!!!”
I understand. Fred Thompson is the very first candidate I have actually donated money to. I have given of my time in the past to help various candidates, but never gave money to their campaigns. I am retired and my sweetheart and I are doing well and want very much for Fred to be our next President. We will continue to give what we can through out Fred’s campaign even if it is not a large amount. I just hope that other Fred supporters like you will also know how important it is to help the candidate we like because money is what helps them get their message out. That is unless the candidate is a MSM favorite. Fred is the best, and has a great chance in winning the nomination. GO FRED!
“A president who is skilled in using the bully pulpit connects with a resonating sentiment in the country and then guides the people to see how his solution addresses what they want addressed in a way they approve of.
Thats something I dont think Bush has been especially good at, but I do think Fred exudes that capability.”
I agree. I also hope that President Thompson will tell the American people that he will address the nation at least once a month on current news/issues on national TV during prime time. If the MSM does not cover it, perhaps at least FOX will. (President Bush tried with his weekly radio address, but we know very few got to hear it.)
