Traveling to hunt has become to expensive. I have to go 50 miles one way to the closest place and it is just a swamp. All the good areas belong to hunting clubs with the cheapest being $750/yr. I'm stuck with shooting squirrel in the back yard with a pellet rifle and an occasional trip to the firing range and with cost of ammo bordering ridiculous.

I priced reloading and only save two bucks per 50 rounds of 9mm. Less for rifle calibers. Several years ago, while I still hunted, I came back to my truck to find some kids putting a jack under my truck ?? They left when I fired a shot into a tree about 30 yds from them. I was still 150 yds away. So much for hunting "public" lands.

Unless you wear bright colors which advertises your presense to both the game and knuckleheaded hunters, you are taking a chance of being "bagged" yourself hunting on public land.

I have to go to the range twice a year to keep my exposed carry permit for both the 9mm and .38. When you have to shoot as a professional requirement, it is a chore with not much enjoyment in it and something I do not look forward to having to do.
