IF President Bush and all his men were truly interested in slowing down the tide of illegal immigrants, all they would have to do is enforce current employment law.

Has anyone yet realized that many illegals themselves have businesses and are employing people. We are way past the stage where we can just say, "It's business hiring them."

And those here illegally are not just doing meanial jobs. They own businesses selling satellite TV systems, car lots, restaurants, restaurant chains, car repair facilities, stores, sign companies, printing companies.

Where do the silly notions come from that it is the darn employers and those here illegally can only be found in a field, washing dishes or making beds at hotel?

Please, FR is supposed to be smarter than that.

‘enforce current employment law’

Does not change the tactic. I would hope you were legally in the US in order to work or operate a business.

And what kind of employee does that illegal employer hire? More illegals that’s who. And I would bet that less than 20% of them are paying any kind of employment taxes.

If you wanna see how the real illegal world operates, just come to Texas.

Very true. Unless those we elect enforce the law, especially deporting those here illegally, it’s not going to change anything.

Good point, many have mainstreamed and are contributing to the economy, whether directly via the IRS or not. Should also note that those working in the fields and making beds are probably making so little that their IRS contribution would be negligible. Workplace enforcement in production environments where somebody else is getting fat off the displacement of domestic labor is what’s needed. Small farmers with a dozen illegals picking grapes aren’t the problem. Factories with 500 plucking chickens are.
