I’ve often thought this. It has the longest coastline, therefore will be the first to go.

Its very difficult to defend (see WWII, the Saracen invasions, the Norman conquest of Sicily, the Spanish conquest of the South, etc.).

I was just in Spain, and their main problem areas are the territories of Ceuta and Melilla, which are politically part of Spain, but geographically surrounded by Morocco. They built a wall similar to the one that congress voted for a few years back, but a few Arabs and Africans get through. There are African child prostitution rings operating in Madrid and Barcelona right now.

As a source of "cheap labor", they have been giving preference to immigrants from Latin America (with Ecuador, Peru, and the Dominican Republic being the largest sources)and the Phillipines who can prove Spanish fluency.

Which brings us back to Italy, as there has been a large influx of South American immigrants into said country over the past 15-20 years. Initially, it was Argentinean and Brazilian immigrants who could prove at least one Italian grandparent, but non-Italo South Americans have been coming in. You now see many Ecuadorians working on construction sites in Rome and Milan, and Peruvians working as nannies all over.
