HOUSTON (AP) — A man shot his girlfriend and then killed himself as she was opening a lingerie store in a Houston mall Tuesday, police said.

The man apparently confronted the woman as she was opening the security gate over the store, said Houston Police Lt. Albert Mihalco. The store showed signs that the two struggled before the woman was shot in the head. The man apparently killed himself, Mihalco said.

The shooting was reported at 10 a.m., and most stores were still closed.

Mall employee Deborah White said she was about to raise the security gate that covered the Ashley Stewart store where she worked when a security guard ran down the mall corridors, pounding on gates and doors and telling everyone to evacuate.

"I just left my coat and got out," White said. About a dozen people left the mall with her, mostly store employees.

The Greenspoint Mall is located a few miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

They aren’t sure, but it appears there is a belief that a shooter is still inside the mall.

Now video of a gurney being taken in...

Fox cut away for the moment.

I thought I heard “greensport”, but I’m not familiar with Houston. Is it “Greenspoint”?

Correction: More commonly known as “Gunspoint Mall”

It can be a little flaky there at night.

Greenspoint. Not a nice part of town. Our office used to be located there. We called it ‘Gunspoint’.

Report of shots fired inside Greenspoint Mall

(11/27/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - There's been an incident at Greenspoint Mall. Police are on the scene right now.

Police are checking out a report that shots were fired inside the mall after a burglary was called in to authorities. A portion of the mall has been closed off.

It's uncertain, but the suspect may still be inside. SWAT officers can be seen entering the building.

There's no immediate word on any injuries.
