Its kind of a strange area. Many low rent apts, but there is a lot of business that takes place in the area. A few highrises and Hotels dot the area as well. It is a tale of two cities really. When I first moved to the Houston area in 1990, it was much worse.

I’d side with you, too. Well, at least the side saying “not Moslem”, or any “organization” for that matter.

Moslems aren’t fond of plain outright public shootings; they prefer bombings and simultaneous suicides and maybe a hostage-taking with a nice decapitation.

It is; but I guess despite Mayor White’s aspirations to making Houston a world class city, (what class?), it’s still an unknown backwater on a dirty bayou.

In the far north-central area of Houston, just west of I-45 on FM1960 (northbelt), and east of the Houston International Airport; where FM1960 is lined with office-building clusters, shopping strips, resturants and hotels.

...I strictly go to open shopping centers now.

Eh. Once you've seen one of those, you've seen a mall.

We bought a mattress set there in 1985. We left Houston the day of the LA riots in 1992.

Greenspoint. Not a nice part of town. Our office used to be located there. We called it ‘Gunspoint’.

I remember when Greenspoint Mall was built. It was a nice part of town back then.

BREAKING NEWS: 2 Shot At North Houston Mall

POSTED: 11:04 am CST November 27, 2007
UPDATED: 11:16 am CST November 27, 2007

HOUSTON -- Two people were shot at a north Houston mall Tuesday morning.

Officials said shots were fired inside Greenspoint Mall after a report of a burglary at a store at about 10 a.m.

Customers were evacuated while businesses closed their gates and were placed on lockdown.

The shooting may possibly be a murder-suicide, officials said.

Police and a SWAT team surrounded the west entrance of the mall.

Greenspoint Mall is a 1.7 million square-foot mall located on Interstate 45 at Beltway 8.

With my aged memory, my previous post had the location a little further north than was correct:

here’s a map link: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=internal&addtohistory=&latitude=tmW7R7RIKGVWpJ3yd480aA%3d%3d&longitude=N%2ft%2bpUQUlhf3MnKIuWzsxw%3d%3d&name=Greenspoint%20Mall&country=US&address=100%20Greenspoint%20Mall&city=Houston&state=TX&zipcode=77060&phone=281%2d874%2d7200&spurl=0&&q=Greenspoint%20Mall&qc=Shopping%20Centers%20%26%20Malls

That was a small business owner trying to rob an armored truck. Really.
