Once again, Rather seems blithely unaware that his bias is so clearly evident in his handling of this story. While he refuses to acknowledge that the documents were obviously forged, he seems to place stock in fantastic conspiracy stories that have no basis in fact.

And what I still perplexed about is this -- when the story broke, the White House didn't even seem to care -- even if it was true, it wouldn't have made a difference in the 2004 election. So why does Rather care so much?

Is something wrong with the search function? This article is already posted, but when I tried to search for “Dan” to find it, search found NO matches, which means it didn’t even find THIS version?

Like Jimmy Carter, this incompetent egocentric will spend the rest of his life trying to prove that he is right and the rest of the world is wrong.

Way before it became clear to even a liberal that Dan Rather was an airhead - many of us wondered in amazement just how such a startingly average intellect made it to the top of newscasting. Thanks to the net and talk radio, virtually all of the MSM pundits have been exposed as truly milktoast non-intellects who prospered by telling “elites” what they wanted to hear. A pox on all of ‘em! And - kudos to those at Little Green Footballs who demonstrated how bloggers could easily defeat those in the MSM mediocre class.

His HDNET presentations pump a lot of venom and anti-US sentiments over the cable networks. The guy has become an enemy of the state. I don’t usually like to frame things in that manner, but he loathes the U.S. Every single subject he touches, is come at from a “U.S. is evil” viewpoint.

The guy has declared war on the nation. He is a bitter old fart with a vendetta so vitriolic that it is hard to imagine what screwed the guy up like this. Maybe he wasn’t breast fed. God knows, but the only thing I’m certain of is that he is unhinged. This nation isn’t perfect, but there are a few things that are positive about it, that he could spend months to find, then report.

Evidently for him, this just isn’t possible. Thus I come away with the premise in tact. This guy is a bitter burned out hater of the United States. I won’t watch his show. Better to let the leftists wallow in his stew.

Somewhere there’s a picture of Nikita Kruschev sitting folornly in a Moscow park feeding pigeons after his ouster. I tried to find it, but it must be gone. Gooogle can’t locate it. It would be the right pic to photoshop Gunga Dan in sitting right next to him.........

Khakis and combat boots in central park. That’s our Gunga Dan, playing “reporter” in his dotage.

‘So why does Rather care so much?’

Because in his mind he’s still ‘Dan Rather - Anchor Monster’.

I actually owe being a conservative to Dan Rather/60 minutes.

They did a complete hack job on a hospital in Dallas — presenting things I knew were completely false — as in, no room for argument false.

I quickly figured out they were pressing an agenda of socialized medicine.

I learned then to distrust the media and spot the agenda.

Once armed with knowledge about their lies, I quickly began to spot other lies -— and my whole world view began to change.

So, I say, thank you Dan Rather for being such a bad liar that even a hick from New Mexico could figure it out.

When the documents were savaged by right-wing bloggers and press critics, CBS News found it couldn’t prove their authenticity and backed down.

Let's have a round of cheers for the The New Media.

Lord! What prose! "It was a dark and stormy night!!!"

Rather's case will be dismissed. It truly is bullshit.

CBS started their ascent with Edward R. Murrow and his attack on McCarthy.

Good to see CBS, Rather and all their Murrows finally disintegrating after half a century of spouting leftist propoganda.

Dan Rather reported a lie he believed was true. Despite all the evidence that contradicted it. I'm sure the National Guard memo is floating out there somewhere - not ones from Kinko's that ruined his career.

" . . . or reveal Rather to be the crumpled icon of a fading era, courting madness in the twilight of public life."

This is the side I alight upon.

Why does he believe his documents are real now? There are two reasons: “First of all,” he says, “the story is true.

The documents (which are the basis of proof for the story) are real because the story (which is only supported by the fake documents) is true? How much more circular can one's logic become.

And he expects to be treated as a sane human being....

The core of Rather’s lawsuit is a mundane contract dispute over whether he received the airtime he was promised in his final year on CBS.

[BABELFISH]

Rather has no real hard facts on the case at hand other than his personal conviction that it was "fake but accurate", and wants to use any kind of weak legal pretext to get his washed-up backside back in front of the cameras so he can drone on about how he is right and the facts are wrong.
