I’m with Old Sarge. No. I don’t see how you can advance conservatism with middle ground. Conservatism is, and should always be common ground.

Can the Republican candidate win over enough independents and Democrats to win the election? No.
The only Republican who can do this loses 1/3 of the GOP base.
The rest of the Republican candidates have no chance outside of the base.
We're screwed.

No. It is they who must find their “common ground.”
If their stance is with leftists, Socialists, enviro wackos, and other assorted liberal trash, then so be it.
Mine is not.

If folks read Fred Thompson’s written plans he has put out on the economy, illegal immigration, national defense, tax reform, national security, and social security, they will like what they see. I believe illegal immigration, national security, tax reform, and saving social security are issues that will be very important to Democrats and Independents as well as Republicans. Fred Thonpson does have the best point by point plans out there! :)
