Oh!...By the way,,,Is this the wonderful “socialization” that homeschoolers are missing.

Must be. It's the only kind I keep hearing about. I'm still waiting for the positive examples.....

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

More socialization we're content to live without.

And you could still be alive to tell about it....

I wonder if it has yet occurred to either of these two rocket scientists that they could have killed someone, and that if they had they’d be facing murder charges.

Positive examples of public schools? I have several from every day I’m in my school and classroom and I’ll bet others in public school do too, but they just don’t make headlines or are flashy enough to talk about. Only things that bleed, lead. Kindness doesn’t make the news.

I can see how this would happen, with a gun being on a bus.

I remember very well folks routinely taking guns to school, visibly so, during deer and dove season. Someone was going to go somewhere and shoot something. Guns were as common as backpacks. I talk to my kids *daily* about who shot what this week and my own collection of firearms. (Kids think I am cool for that, btw)

There was some discussion on the local call-in radio show recently about whether or not teachers should be allowed to carry...I am all for it, since the thought of a teacher being armed is enough to deter most.

Oh, and if you want something *positive* about schools, we had a group come to school yesterday called FUTURENOW (google it...futurenow.us is all I can remember) sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I repeat, FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES. The goal of this group? Positive thinking, making the correct choices and, get this, turning people to Christ! In a public school! And, they brought BIBLES! To school! It is a shame this was not mentioned in the local news and newspaper, but hey, unfortunately no one bled.:(

I suppose if I had time to scour the internet looking for anything to bash someone’s profession I could find something, but I have kids in my classroom who actually look up to me as a positive role model and actually were discussing poetry yesterday without me saying anything.

What a strange world.

And my thoughts to the one who was shot and the others who had to experience it.
