Sheriff's Department: School Bus Shot Not Accidental

Holland Patent, Oneida Co. (WSYR-TV) – Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies have determined the shot fired on a Holland Patent school bus Monday was not an accident.

Deputies believe James Ranaudo, 16, of Holland Patent, brought the gun onto school property. While on the school bus, Ranaudo gave the weapon to Mathew Heinig, 17, of Rome. Sheriff’s Investigators say Heinig was in possession of the weapon, when he fired it toward the seat that was directly in front of him. The bullet passed through two seats and between two kids seated in front of him.

Interesting that the family of one of these idiots has refused to pay his very low bail and allowed him to stay in jail.

I'm sorry, this is obviously a lie. Schools are gun-free zones, by LAW (!), and so no student would think of bringing a gun onto a school bus because when the bus got on school property he would be in violation of the law.

Rumor has it the kids in our district have their guns in the backs of their pick-ups, especially during hunting season (which it is now), and especially if they don’t get a deer before school.

Bringing a gun on a school bus is blindingly stupid, at the very least. But then again, there’s lots of redneck areas in NYS, believe it or not.

It's a wonder someone wasn't killed.

What puzzles me is that the shooting was at 11:15 AM on the way from BOCES back to the school. I could see a kid sneaking a gun onto the bus when leaving home, but how the heck did it get through the morning and into BOCES? Those kids go to the school first thing in the morning and then pick up a bus TO BOCES, stay there for their time, and then come back. Someone had to be sneaking that gun around a fair amount of time.

Oh, I know there are rednecks in NYS. I’ve sold and bought sheep there. Parts of NYS are blindingly beautiful, and most of rural NYS is at least interesting. Could do without the weather though ...

Government aside, NY’s biggest drawback is the weather.

One more reason never to have your child ride a government school bus. Add this to being dragged or crushed to death by the school bus, raped, or bullied on the bus.

Oh!...By the way,,,Is this the wonderful “socialization” that homeschoolers are missing.

I personally know kids who have, on a school bus, been spit in the face, had his jacket slit open with a razor blade procured from a little hand held pencil sharpener, and had her feet peed on by the bullies in the back of the school bus. All those incidents happened in different buses of different districts within about one year’s time.

Parents are apparently not allowed on the school buses in NYS, and there is no adult supervision other than the bus driver who is supposed to be busy driving the bus. Nice set up for the little anarchists.
