From the article:

Given the margin of error, the challenges of determining the relatively small number of people who will participate in a caucus, and other factors, the race is far too close to call at this point in time. However, the fact that Romney is no longer the clear frontrunner in Iowa reflects a stunning change in the race.

Compared to our prior survey, the trend is unmistakable—Huckabee has gone up and just about everybody else has gone down. Huckabee’s 28% support represents a twelve point increase from a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted earlier in the month. Romney is down four points while Giuliani and Thompson are each down three points from the previous survey. John McCain is down two points and earns just 4% support. Ron Paul picked up a point and is now at the 5% level.

Forty-eight percent (48%) of Evangelical Christians support Hucakbee. That’s more than all the other candidates combined. Romney attracts 16% of the Evangelical vote.

LOL, no name calling involved, just quoting what I have heard from here, talk show hosts, and pundits.

As you said, many are proud of their principled stand, and will not vote for anyone who is not staunchly pro-life.

Which is reality.

But it is they who call others unprincipled, scum, on their way to hell, and even wishing a fatal car accident on a contender, and some even promising to elect Hillary.

Not me, I have pledged to support and work hard for our nominee, no matter who it is, against the UnAmercian Democrat Party.

First Rudy then Romney and now Huckabee, the current media darling, is up this week. The voters seem a tad fickle and I think we’ve not even come close to knowing how this will play out. Support for any one of them is soft, to say the least, leaving much opportunity for Thompson in the overall race.

Look for a self-Inflicted GOP wound in the form of a Giuliani/ Huckabee ticket.

You've got it figured out. The Huckster is being groomed for the VP slot to "balance" the ticket and entice blind southern conservatives to vote for a northeastern liberal for President, like Rudy or Romney. As a conservative Arkansas FReeper, I've been saying this since the Huckster got into the race. It's sad to see the GOP voters being wooed by another slick talker from Hope, like the Demos swallowed hook, line, and sinker back in '91.

I guess you might as well stay home and get used to “Madame President”

Are you telling me that the only three GOP candidates running are Willard, Rudolph and Huckabee? Funny, I was under the impression that there were several other people in the mix...

The problem is that neither Huckabee nor Thompson have enough support individually to overcome Giuliani’s lead, IMO. If Huckabee remains this strong by February 5, Giuliani could wrap up the nomination based on Huckabee and Thompson dividing the social conservative vote.

We all know Iowa is a big time pro-life state and that the abortion issue would play a huge part in the GOP primary. Its no surpise that a strong pro-lifer like Mike Huckabee is doing so well at this point.

The big surprise is that after a year of campaigning in Iowa and pumping millions of dollars into promotional ads touting his pro-life credentials, Mitt Romney is being beaten by someone with no money whatsoever.

Sadly, beyond his pro-life and pro-gun credentials Mike Huckabee is another big government Republican.

The liberal media’s hype regarding Huckabee, his proclamation of faith and what a formidable GOP candidate he’s going to be is part of their game plan. They know he’s a loser.

But, but, Mitt is PERFECT! How can you not support him?

LOL

A wartime President is mandatory, imo, whether it be RG, FT, DH, and lastly JM.

Why do we need a wartime President when war has not been declared yet . . . at least according to the previous attorney general:

There was not a war declaration, either in connection with Al Qaida or in Iraq. It was an authorization to use military force. I only want to clarify that, because there are implications. Obviously, when you talk about a war declaration, you're possibly talking about affecting treaties, diplomatic relations. And so there is a distinction in law and in practice. And we're not talking about a war declaration. This is an authorization only to use military force. - 2006 Attorney General Gonzales

People outside of IA and NH keep saying things like that because they are sad that no one cares what happens in their states. People voting in primaries are very volatile in their decisions. John Kerry was a dead duck before the IA caucus and NH primary began, and then, voila, he was the nominee. People like Fred who think they can have an 0-4 hole early on and win the nomination are delusional.

I don’t see Huck as a wartime President, I have heard him in many interviews, and I just hear the right tone and attitude from him, for my taste anyway.

BTW, as I have said before, RG, FT, DH, and JM (not on our domestic WOT), all would be good CICs imo.

We have a conundrum going into the next election. On the one hand we have true conservatives that don’t register well save for Thompson (my guy). Leading we have Rooty and Mitt with very little conservative support. Convensional wisdom says Rooty is supposed to come out of the Primary’s as the Repub nominee. Are the conservatives going to suck it up and vote for Rooty? Are we going to stay home and not vote and assure a Dem Vicotry? Or are we going to vote for a third party candidate if desirable? Is a Rooty presidency worse than a Hitlery or Obama presidency? Personally, I will vote as my civic obligation but I will write in my candidate if he is not the nominee I can live with.

I don’t know what any candidate “should” be. Candidates don’t control the voters or the pollsters. The results are what they are, and right now the religious conservatives are abandoning the other candidates and flocking to Huckabee.

But it doesn’t take a clever person to note that yesterday you called a fellow freeper a LIAR simply for accurately stating a poll result, because you INSISTED that it was a lie if you didn’t take into account the margin of error.

You were quite indignant about that, posting the same claim about lying multiple times in that thread. It seemed like it was critically important for you.

But today, nothing. Like your outrage was not at all based on fact or principle, but simply a ploy to attack someone who supported another candidate.
