So it does come down to two things: (1) the viability of the candidate, which only Mitt Romney has demonstrated among the socially conservative candidates, and (2) whether social conservatives will have the courage to rally around the only viable social conservative alternative to Rudy Giuliani. A divided field means that Giuliani is likely to win the nomination. This is our choice to make, and we don't have long to make it.
Watch this fight between Rudy and Mitt. It will only be a microscopic version of what Hillary will throw at either of them in a general election. Any Republican candidate that does not have an authentic conservative record to run on will be made mincemeat of by her in the general election. Neither Rudy or Mitt have this record. If either ends up as the Rep. candidate, with the help of the media, she’ll be able to discourage and send the value voters heading for the hills and we know how that worked out in 2006.
