BURLINGTON, Vt.Federal prosecutors said Wednesday they have broken up two of the largest human smuggling rings ever discovered in the northeastern United States.
more stories like thisThe rings allegedly smuggled hundreds of illegal aliens into the U.S. from Korea, Pakistan, India and countries in central America beginning in 2004 by having them walk across the U.S.-Canada border and then be picked up and taken to cities along the East Coast.
U.S. Attorney Thomas Anderson said there was no indication either groups smuggled anyone in who would be considered a terrorist, but that the smugglers would move anyone who paid up to $10,000 per person to get into the U.S.
"When an organization has established a pipeline to aliens from various countries, including countries with terrorists, into the United States, they don't care who's passing through that pipeline as long as they are paying," Anderson said.
"They don't care if its a family looking for a better life or a terrorist looking to harm America."

My question is, how did they get into Canada which has some pretty strict immigration policies?
no suprise here
suprise = surprise
I’m trying to remember what FReeper said the Canadian border was too wide open and even a greater risk than the Mexican border...?
Were Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul involved? What did the spacecraft look like?
If we actually had meaningful interior enforcement we wouldn’t need to care which border or airport they passed through.
It's what they do.
Too late. Kucinich has already landed and disembarked from his craft, and gotten himself elected to Congress.
And what's the Bush Administration line on Homeland Security...?
"We're doing everything we can to protect the homeland" or something like that...
“Im trying to remember what FReeper said the Canadian border was too
wide open and even a greater risk than the Mexican border...?”
Wasn’t me...but I do have the memories of a road-trip to Canada with
my parents and brother in maybe 1976.
As we entered Alberta from Montana, the Canadian customs guys gave our
1959 Dodge truck with camper a real going-over for about 15 minutes.
(I guess the Oklahoma tags said “Redneck gun nuts and drug importers” to
the guards...but they were very polite).
On our return, we left Canada to enter North Dakota on a Sunday morning...
and the border station was CLOSED...but the road wasn’t.
We just drove on into the USA, chuckling and saying “well, this is
one way to smuggle things into the USA!”

Why am I not suprised!
3000 a day jump the border, and I am supposed to care??
2 rings down, 10,000 to go... give or take.
Ping.
