Are super novae reviewed by cosmetologists?.....
Al baby do you know somebody there
I don't really understand this. Quakes taking place at depth can cause displacement, upward movement on the surface. If I remember correctly, the Northridge quake was relatively deep.
It still turned out to be the largest loss earthquake in U.S. history.
“its the big one!” :)
We were there!
Direct tsunamis are caused by actual considerable movement of the sea floor. A deep quake will indeed cause movement deep below the earth, but it won’t actually change the shape of the sea floor.
You can still get smaller tsunamis from a quake causing an undersea landslide.
There is no Tsunami watch. I guess they are able to determine that this earthquake could not produce a Tsunami.
Northridge (19 kilometer depth)

I understand your comments, and I pretty much ageee. Wouldn’t you agree though that even a deep quake could potentially cause the surface to rise or even dip as a result of the quake?
It just seems rather quick to declare ‘all clear’ on this event.
Granted, I haven’t studied this like the experts have.
I guess so.
Hey, we were just there! Didn’t know that area was prone to strong earthquakes though, poor people were still cleaning up after the last hurricane that came through when I was there.
Last time I saw a red square that big on the world earthquake map was 12/26.
I was still feeling glad that it wasn’t on land when the waves started hitting...
Jusr for grins ... what would be the expected tsunami size had this been not so deep? How much of the Florida coast would be scoured? Gee, as if Glo-ball Warming wasn’t enough of a threat!
Global warming causes tsunamis. /sarc
1970....those were the days.........
I felt it (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
