While Rick Warren may be many things, a born again Christian is not one of them.

When I think of “Mega” churches, this is what comes to mind.

There's a "mega" church near where I live. Whenever I meet one of their members I always tease them by asking "Now they're the ones that are stock piling assault weapons in order to take over the world, right?" Of course, I always ask Masons that, too.

You are correct that liberals are very diversified in their voting block. GOP (BIG circus TENT) has tried to emulate them and what they have ended up with is liberalism lite, preachers included. Some call themselves socially liberal as though conservatism is a buffet.

If you want to get an idea of what the Harlot of Babylon looks like, just take a gander at Saddleback. The so-called church sold out to the world.

Just reading the title of the thread I knew it had to be the obsequious Rick Warren embracing champions of the abortion holocaust like the Rodham-rodent and Obama. Warren has zero spiritual discernment ... and for a man claiming to be a Pastor/teacher, that’s telling of the Spirit that is NOT in him.

Myfriend we ~are~ in a small minority (both in the Republican Party and the American Population)..

Too bad, Many of our founders would have been considered “Born-Again” or “Evangelical” Today..!?

Please do check out the links. This thing is a lot bigger than Warren. The whole emerging church/contemplative spirituality movement has infiltrated the church. And it is part of the bigger antichrist strategy that includes the New Age movement. The whole ball of wax is coming to a friend near you, a church near you, a town near you, and eventually a government near you, and a world near you.

Educate yourself, lest you be deceived:

He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. —Luke 21:8

1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood. —1 John 4:1-6

Attacking other Christians including Pastors is not Christian. You may not agree with Warren and I also question some of the things Warren has done and said but none of us know his heart before God. God has not given any of you the gift of seeing into someones heart. I find the attacks by some here on Warren far worse than anything he has or supposedly has done. Get your hearts right with God and let God have His way with Rick Warren. Some of these attacks are based on doctrinal differences and those who fit that category were against this man long before Warren did any public political stuff. Your words reveal hearts and it does not look good for you.

One guy here said, "Warren is not born again"..........gotta wonder about anyone that would blurt out such a statement, like a little child......sure not abiding in the Vine, are you? Grow up.....maturity is one very clear mark of having spent time with Jesus Christ.

I wonder what Warrens purpose was in inviting Hillary to speak but as I don't know why [and neither do any of you] I will not make any automatic negative assumptions.

BTW I liked his book....but then I am not hung up on some silly doctrinal nonsense issues like some.

May all our hearts be transparent before God our Lord.

Rick Warren is married to Kay Lewis, the daughter of our church’s former pastor B. Levern Lewis (Trinity SBC, Fresno, CA). My husband knew Rick when they were both teenagers. Rick is straight... but he is very star struck and out of touch. It’s too bad.

Thanks for the post.

I'm definitely aware of what she is. And I myself agreed that what Rick had done in the aspect of allowing Hillary to the pulpit to say something is wrong. We discussed it with the earlier freepers in the thread. My only point is as a Christians we do not discriminate or select people to be in our service... we even encourage them to join us as long as they don't compromise the security of the congregation as i've mentioned in my earlier replies.

As a normal Christian congregation it is fine to invite people of different backgrounds but as one of the earlier poster said what happened at the Saddleback Church is defintely wrong. And I agree with him bigtime!

This “minister” is serving evil as well, or even better, than Goebbels served Hitler, and the KGB served Stalin.

As a human being, I would certainly think the same way. But as a Christian human being I'm careful with concluding or perhaps judging (which I certainly would prefer not to do) what a church is doing or the intentions of the Senior Pastor (Rick Warren). As you've said, God certainly knows the heart. And if He finds so much fault in it He will deal with it in many ways He alone is capable of. Perhaps not now but in the near future.

But the congregation gave her a standing ovation - what?

I guess Rick Warren would have to dis-fellowship me.
(if such a concept exists in a "mega"-church)

Because, IF I could have sat through a presentation by Hillary!,
I'd be so tired from tense anger that I'd not be able to stand
for awhile.

But I would have tried to save my strength to give her that one
unmistakable sign of disdain in professional circles:
clapping of hands slowly to give tepid, bored "applause".

Ah - Two different things: Very different things.

IF (big if!) Hillary wanted to JOIN the Christian church (any church - for that matter!) legitimately and as a repentant sinner, she MUST be welcomed with open arms and forgiven (by us at least) for her sins.

She was NOT doing that though.

She entered the front door waving her hands, boasting of herself and praising herself as a CANDIDATE for the highest office on earth - the most powerful position for evil on earth. She was NOT entering as a person but as a deliberate, lying, scheming political animal with NO intent of doing anything but deceiving other Christians via her supporters in the media.

And that is sin, not churchgoing.

It definitely isn't his duty to welcome any Tom Dick or Mary .

It is his duty. As any pastor would do for a sinner who comes in the church.

to address his congregation on the issue of sexual activity, especially when Hillary espouses a condoms-first approach to AIDS.

This is certainly where I agree with you and fellow posters in this thread.

And Rick Warren lacks the spiritual discernment to see the devil parading around in Warren’s church.

I'm not a member of Rick's congregation or whatever that name is Saddle Dike, Saddle Freak whatever... I never even thought about being one.

I would prefer listening to Rev. Charles Stanley of InTouch Ministries than any of Rick's. But of course as Christians we don't just listen.
