Perhaps the police don’t want the perp to be able to see live what the police are doing outside? If they are getting SWAT team ready or whatever. I have heard police complain before about media reports tipping off bad guys in hostage situations. I know if I was one of the hostages right now I would think my right to be saved would trump other’s rights to know what is going on.

True enough. It just seems like there is a quick-draw decision to hide “unpleasantness”, and I don’t think folks need that sort of protection. But, giving away the SWAT team’s advantage isn’t good, either...
