Barbara Boxer’s novel is so awful, I am surprised people take her seriously.

His question was about how ONE Senator gets “veto power” — the “blue slip” issue. Your answer, citing the Advise and Consent Clause, isn’t really responsive.

For the first 150 or so years of the Republic, a single Senator did not have this power; even a nominee who was “blue slip”-rejected by BOTH his home state Senators still got a floor vote, as one scholar notes:

http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~poli/NewsandEvents/UGRC2004/willis.pdf

Only in the last 5 decades or so has this “veto by even one Senator” unwritten rule come into being.

“Barbara Boxer isn’t fit to carry Rogan’s gun cleaning kit.”

Correction:

Barbara Boxer isn’t fit to carry an Iraqui bedouin’s soiled drawers.

California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is blocking the nomination of former Republican Congressman James Rogan to the federal bench, due largely to Rogan’s leading role in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

Can someone deny someone else a job for a frivolous reason? Every day there are more laws against discrimination in any form. And is this not discrimination even though Rogan is fully qualified for the job?

As of January 2006.

He sounds like a perfect appointment for this coming Christmas recess. Let's see if the president is The President.

Lol, yeah right.

Any word whether the moonbats are going to pull another stunt and keep the Senate in session over Christmas?

I haven't heard anything, but it's up to them whether or not they want to go home or spend their Christmas in DC.

And, if it were up to me as president that is exactly the choice they would have.

I would prefer that Rogan milk the publicity for all it's worth and then run against that stupid p.o.s. Boxer.

I've heard of worse ideas.

Rogan was very elegant, with the exception of Henry Hyde he was the next best speaker in the group.

“U.S. Rep. Rogan was one of the most enthusiastic backers of impeachment — he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors,” Boxer’s spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz said.

Words fail me.

The Presidents Clinton HAD committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

Ms. Ravitz obviously needs her little watermelon [green on the outside, red on the inside] ears pinned back...

"he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors"

Well, yeah, he did commit crimes. That is why he was impeached, you twit.

And if I recall correctly, the dumb sh!t Boxer was the one that loudly proclaimed she did not care what the evidence was or crimes committed, she would never vote to convict.

Don't try to confuse Non-Sequitur with the facts...
