Unless Bush makes him a recess appointment.

Barbara Boxer isn’t fit to carry Rogan’s gun cleaning kit.

Actually, Rogan was kinda weak on gun rights. He might have been just the type of squishy judge she'd appreciate on gun cases.

I think this is a process called “Blue Carding” where a home state’s senator is allowed to stop the nomination process completely for an individual from their home state. I am not really sure of the name (old Timers Ya Know) but I know these folks do it. They have no constitutional authority to do this as far as I read the document. However being extra-constitutional has never stopped the house and senate before has it?

This behavior has been used before. But I agree it is shameless.

This activity is not part of the advise and consent clause rather it is a process by which a home state senator can effectively veto a nomination without any senate vote. Blue Carding is the name as I recall. I just don’t see that authority in the constitution. But your ridicule was duly noted.

Don't try to confuse Non-Sequitur with the facts...

Ahhh, he is pretty good most of the time and I always enjoy reading his posts. Sorry for the delay responding to all comments. Trying to get my sleep apnea under control.

"Those days are gone, unfortunatley."

Not necessarily.

I can easily envision President Hillary Clinton nominating Lawrence Tribe or Noam Chomsky to the Supreme Court and Republican senators voting overwhelmingly to confirm "in the interests of bi-partisanship."

Would you really expect anything else?

from late last month:
California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is blocking the nomination of former Republican Congressman James Rogan to the federal bench, due largely to Rogan's leading role in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. Rogan served in the U.S. House from 1997 to 2001, and due to his background as a prosecutor, was selected as one of 13 House managers for the impeachment trial. "U.S. Rep. Rogan was one of the most enthusiastic backers of impeachment -- he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors," Boxer's spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz said.
