Duncan Hunter: Romney Should Oppose China Deal
Newsmax.com ^ | December 1, 2007

Posted on 12/01/2007 4:11:35 AM PST by Man50D

At a press conference held at the South Carolina State Capitol on Friday, presidential candidate and U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., called on Bain Capital, a company founded by former rival GOP candidate Mitt Romney, to drop its strategic partnership with Chinese defense contractor Huawei Technologies in a bid to buy U.S. defense contractor 3Com.

Hunter also called on Romney to use his continued influence with Bain to terminate the proposed merger between Huawei and 3Com, which, according to a report in the Washington Times, would threaten U.S. national security.

"As the founder of Bain Capital, Governor Romney has an obligation to utilize his influence within the company to terminate the proposed merger between 3Com and Chinese defense contractor Huawei," said Hunter. "In light of China 's refusal to port several American naval vessels last week, it is increasingly more important that American military technology be protected from foreign companies, such as Huawei, that are closely aligned with the Chinese government."

The Washington Times reports that U.S. intelligence agencies informed the CFIUS review committee, responsible for examining proposed foreign investment transactions, that a merger between 3Com and Huawei would threaten America 's national security. 3Com presently performs vital cyber-security work for the Department of Defense.

"This proposed deal, which Governor Romney can work to terminate should he choose to do so, is unpatriotic and damaging to national security," continued Hunter. As further detailed in a resolution introduced in the House of Representatives, Huawei has close ties to the military of communist China and allegedly aided Saddam Hussein and the Taliban.

Duncan Hunter is strong on national security and is not hesitant to stop China's aggressive actions. It's time for the other candidates to step up to the plate about China.

Duncan Hunter would be the best President but the liberal rino GOP has their heart set on the rino liberal candidates. If their choice is rino they will get what they deserve, a minimum of 4 years of the Hillary/ Clinton tag team disaster.
And their will be many disasters to face for America in those days and who will be able to save them.

Heh, The Romney dudes were already complaining this had already been posted. Romney said some things about China at the debate. He seems to be running as Hunter lately. Hunter needs to ask these guys where they were when he was working his a$$ off to get the borders secure. I get so sick of these political think tank groups stating what a wonderful position or platform some candidate has on an issue. If positions and platforms got our borders secured or would keep the ChiComs in check it would be, wonderful. They don’t, and they won’t, so vote for Hunter. He has been there, done that.

I have noticed that the top tier crowd are including trade and jobs as things republicans don’t want to talk about in reguards to the planted questions in the CNN debate.

Planted questions will never acknowledged by those looking for CNN to advance the hillary agenda. Those persons act as the three monkeys, speak no, hear no, and see no. Once the mouth, ears, and eyes are taken out of the equation, as CNN and hillary would prefer, America can be lain into a wasteland, as the democrats, of CNN and hillary, and others, applaud the enemies, of America, advance. Vote for hillary, or vote for hillary by not voting, and four years will be just the time, our enemies are wishing for. hillary and our enemies working together, just what Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde would ordered.

Yes, they are all trying to act like Duncan Hunter. Only problem is their records show differently. Hunter is the only one giving notice to the threat we are facing from China from our stupidity.

So few, here in America see china as a threat. I am constantly amazed, through china's own actions of aggression are not acknowledged by many of the Republican candidates plus those candidates refusal to acknowledge the facts.

Money drives our world, but what good is the money for America, if the receiver of that money uses that money for aggression? America is going broke, as our manufacturing base is moved offshore. Yes, the candidates (all, not just Mr. Hunter) should step up to the plate. It would be interesting to watch them squim, but the ones with the money and looking to gain more of the money will avoid the debate. Actions taken on behalf of the enemy are rampant, even within the Republican ranks. I wouldn't be surprised if many, like hillary, are paid stooges of china or would like to be.

You’ve got something there. someone needs to pass to Hunter for him to say at the next debate, or in a speech: “Where were you when I was trying to stop our Congress from giving up our industry and our trade dollars to a communist nation called China? Where were you when I was building a border fence in San Diago? Where were you when I was writing a bill to end abortion by defining life at conception? You weren’t there, and frankly I believe you’re still not here.”

The old media desires 9/11 to be forgotten, as do a majority of the presidential candidates, while the enemy prepares for more catastrophic attacks. Economic Warfare is only one piece of the puzzle. Most of the candidates would prefer a piece of the pie, even if it be given by an enemy, than to inform Americans of the truth laying down the path. I see the presidential candidates, on stage, and I hear the refrain.....Nothing to worry about, take a pill, and Go Back To Sleep.

Duncan who? I know he’s at the ‘debates’ but I never hear him mentioned. I listen to his answers but I seem to hear them alone. On Fox, I hear the grating name Huckabee often and in good stead but never hear Hunter mentioned. Why?? If he could get his message out he would whip the pants off of any other candidate. I guess that may be the problem...

As far as I’m concerned, the only reason the top tier is there is due to their ability sidestep tough questions. Judging from the way the top tier fell apart in the face of planted democrat questions, their “electability” is very much in question.

NO doubt about it....he had the best one liner of the night: “Buy American” if you want a Merry Christmas...”.
And since that’s not politically correct you’ll never hear it again!

I’ve seen several of the talking heads praise Huckabee for his handling of the gay general. In fact, Huck only repeated what Hunter had said seconds before and even even gave Hunter credit for saying it.

Where was Frank Luntz and his little graph on that? Hunter's line clearly brought the biggest cheer from the audience of the night.

Should I affix my tinfoil hat, the old media is simply willing participants, advancing America's destruction, not being paid to broadcast a lie, as the truth? Or is the old media paid participants, and running campaign commercials for their favorites, or is the old media not being paid, but, instead, expecting a payday not far down the road?

I have to answer No, for, I believe, the old media only wants the money. Money does strange things to the truth, as in, covers it up....now where's my tinfoil hat. Too much truth telling going on out thar!

btw...love your nick.

Actually in one debate he did pretty much that.

Tammy Bruce describes it this way: “Hunter is coming across as the strongest, most clear on what’s happening internationally, and the impact of Unfair Trade on this country. I find it slightly ridiculous that these men, who’ve been in office forever, are talking incessantly about how things have to change in Washington when they’ve been in that town for decades creating the problem. It’s as though they think they can convince us they’re all outsiders or something. Listening to John “Amnesty” McCain talking about the need for change is especially surreal.

Duncan Hunter notes 1.8 million jobs going to Communist China is the problem. Bravo. Yeah, notes that all the senators voted for Most Favored Nation status for China, sending those jobs to that pit. He was great.”
