Everyone - do you not agree that we should STOP the illegals AT THE BORDER?

If we stop them at the border, we don’t have to make every employer, landlord and private citizen become and ICE agent.

Also, everyone, including Fred Thompson, (except maybe Tancredo), realizes that there is no way that anyone is going to be knocking on doors to find and deport the 12 milliion illegal immigrants already here.

Reality check, anyone?

The conservative stance is to stop them from coming into the US illegally, which means stopping them at the border.

This is exactly what Giuliani is proposing.

“You’re probably right because the only difference I see is that one has put a (D) after their name and the other an (R). Beyond that what else is there?”

There is a great deal of difference. Here is just one:

I believe him on this as much as I believe his claim that he spent as much time at Ground Zero as the brave rescue workers.

Translation: Giuliani will grant amnesty to 20-30 million illegal aliens.

Sun City attendees seemed most interested in his immigration policy.

Me too! And almost every other citizen. We're all interested in immigration policy or lack of same... tired and sick to death of illegals breaking into our country.

There are 20 to 30 million illegal aliens here now, and you don't have to deport them...they will deport themselves, once the laws are enforced.

When that is done, protecting the borders will be much easier.

Well, here is what Giuliani is saying about how he would handle illegal immigration:

Secure our broken borders. Restore rule of law. -- by Rudy Giuliani

"One of my 12 Commitments to the American People is to end illegal immigration, secure our borders and identify every non-citizen in our nation. America's proud tradition of legal immigration is being undermined by our government's inability to solve the problem of illegal immigration. We must end illegal immigration -- and protect and expand legal immigration.

Ending illegal immigration begins with securing the border. We need to build both a physical and a high-tech fence to monitor and control border crossings. We need a fully staffed 20,000-agent Border Patrol with continued logistical support from the National Guard. And to increase their effectiveness, we will institute BorderStat -- a data-driven system of intelligence gathering that will monitor the border and give agents real-time information to put resources in the right place at the right time.

We also need a swipeable, tamper-proof biometric ID for all foreign workers and foreign students in our nation. The Secure, Authorized, Foreign Entry Card, SAFE card, will enable us to create a national database of all non-citizens in our nation. The SAFE card will also help us track when people enter and exit our nation. More than 40 percent of the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in our country overstayed their visas.

We must have a zero-tolerance policy for non-citizen criminals. When I became mayor, we had 400,000 illegal immigrants in New York City. Immigration officials said they could deport only a few thousand a year. And when I wanted to fast-track the deportation of drug dealers and other criminals in city jails, I was told they would have to wait behind a busboy or a college professor who'd over-stayed their visas. It made no sense.

Currently, we deport only about 14 percent of the roughly 300,000 deportable non-citizen criminals in our prisons. That will change: If you come to our country and commit a crime, you will be prosecuted. You will serve your sentence. And then you will be met at the prison gate with a one-way ticket out of our country."

I consider this would be a major step towards stopping illegal immigration. Also note that the 9-11 hijackers didn't come here illegally, they "just" overstayed their visa, so if we had the system in place that he is proposing, to track all foreign nationals entering the country, we may have deported them, before they hatched and implemented their plot.

This is exactly what Giuliani is proposing.

Giuliani wants to stop them with a virtual fence. In other words let's pretend. That btw is exactly the approach Ted Kennedy and Arlen Specter want to take. Why? Because they know it doesn't work and will keep the illegal alien express going at full speed.
