British Muslims protested outside the Sudanese Embassy over the treatment of jailed teacher Gillian Gibbons.

The small but noisy group demanded the immediate release of Mrs Gibbons, who is currently serving a 15-day prison sentence in Sudan after her class of seven-year-olds named a teddy bear Mohammed.

Good for them. This is exactly what we’ve asked them to do.

Agreed, I only wish they would get as excited about blowing up innocent people instead of being embarrassed about something so inane as naming a teddy bear Mo'

Good for them!

I guess the Sudanese mob didn’t know that the bear was named after the boy ... named Mohammed. Jeez.

Well, they may be some of the rare ‘moderate Muslims’ we keep hearing about, or they may be Muslims with just as much propensity toward jihad as the nasties, but who happen to have absorbed enough of English culture to understand that when Englishwoman names a teddy bear something, it’s a sign of fondness toward the namesake, and thus the accusation of ‘insulting the Prophet’ is specious.

I know Muslims of "both stripes." I am glad to hear these speaking out -- the pressure on them from the extremists to remain silent cannot be discounted.

Very true, I wonder how much pressure from Islamic extremist inside Britain will be tolerated by the non Muslim people

Sad to say, the vaunted British courage has not been on its usual display of late.

Now I didn’t read the entire article, but the snippet you posted suggests to me that they are protesting because they didn’t immediately lop her head off. Not that I would hastily jump to erroneous conclusions or anything.

The fanatics in the Sudan as well as the rest of Islamdom have committed blasphemy by raising a human being - Mohammad - to the status of a God, in a religion which claims there is only one God.

Jesus, try reading the article. Even the ‘snippet’ doesn’t suggest that.

“Muslims protesting??? Is it a historic first ?”

No, it is not. On the evening of September 10 the local Pakistanis protested the visit of and talk given by Salman Rushdie in Houston. The next day these trashy people had nothing to say about the destruction of the WTC.
Hey America, let’s bring more of them in.

20 to 3000 is about the expected ratio of moderate to jihadist, worldwide.
