We live in Eagle, 4 miles downriver on Yukon from border.

I know several people who have been stalked by blk bears, actually quite common; yet most people think I’m just joking around; honestly, I’m not.

The first bear, my pistol was in the trk, heck of a place for it when bear is 5 foot from ya. I waved and yelled and bear retreated, then came in 2 more times before walking off into the woods; made me somewhat nervous.

Second bear was along trail and I shot him.

F&G doesn’t think much of selling internal bear parts; probably cause they don’t get a cut.

We are trying to get F&G to ok the use of snares in our area. Bears are real easy to snare. We had a local quite a few years back that had some bear probs and declared unlimited war of those buggers. He was snaring them and got like 20 some in one summer. Nobody talked about it cause bear were getting to be dangerous pests and everyone wanted them away from the community.

You know how it goes when nearest F&G or state troopers are 185 miles away and the road is closed half the year anyway.

Never saw many while in Fairbanks. Juneau was a differant matter. They are as common as stray cats in that city. Except of course for the fact that stray cats cannot rip your head off and take a dump down the neck hole.
