Kerry is a liar and a punk.
Phony hero, non-accomplished senator no major or minor bills passed. The only thing he does well is marry into money he’s never earned an honest dollar in his whole uneventful life. And he he still thought he should be president. He reminds me a lot of what the Dems are running for president now.

Two top suspicions:
1. A Dishonorable Discharge resulting from his
consorting with the enemy in Paris while still a
Naval Reserve officer. Discharge converted to
Honorable very late, as part of Carter amnesty.
2. All three Purple Hearts resulted from unintentional
self-inflicted wounds from horseplay or inept combat use
of grenades or grenade launchers.
3. More doubt cast on how the Silver Star was
obtained.
On reflection I believe he could have explained a DD away as a result of being on Nixon's Enemies List, which would probably just have enhanced his cred with the hardcore leftists and not caused an adverse reaction from the mushy moderates. I think it whatever he is hiding must be something worse.

Dismissal is the equivalent of a DD for officers (picture Chuck Connors having his buttons pulled off and his sword broken.) Dismissal can only be by sentence of a General Court Martial, the highest level of a military court. A GCM is would be an open and public proceeding in most cases. There is no secret dismissal. Could Kerry have received an administrative separation and discharge other than the usual honorable? That's possible.
