Don’t jump to conclusions. You’re getting the son’s version of the story, not the dad’s.

What do you bet the dad, after listening to his indoctrinated, liberal arts eductation-exposed kid who attended the college of his own choice, finally got the come-uppance from the financial source when he told his dad he was part of some mythical corporate war machine for supporting the Bush presidency?

Well—you look at your post and get a whole new perception of the young man. Maybe the father is the bad guy here-—who knows?

I think when you tell your kid you will help - you should. Such a stupid restriction on a "gift" makes the father stupid.

“I can’t support his college education when he is going to act like that,” the elder Gambordella said. “He’s going to outgrow it. I hope he does.”

His not supporting college made caused his actions.

Is nothing sacred, even someone's own inner thoughts and opinions?

If they had stayed his "inner thoughts and opinions" there wouldn't have been any issue.

No parent is automatically obligated to support their children beyond the age of 18. He told his father to "go pound sand" -- so now he can go pay for his own education. Sounds reasonable to me.

So, where was this guys college scholarship offers? If he is a champion at all of these things and an author of 4 books at the age of 19 and he hasn’t done anything to get himself into college yet?

Something about this all seriously smells like propaganda. Sounds like Teddy is really, really good and getting attention and his ‘protests’ are mostly a way to get attention and money from the Bush-Haters on the web.

Hope he doesn’t forget to pay taxes on the money which is ‘donated’ to his college tuition. Wouldn’t want the IRS to take issue with his political heroism....

Sure, the father is entitled to give any reason or no reason for not paying for his child’s college, but that doesn’t mean that some reasons aren’t crass and manipulative.

That’s the classic picture of a young man with talent but no experience. Wait until he gets his first paycheck and sees how much the government takes from him to bestow on others willy-nilly.

"Any parent that would deny their child an education because they didn't toe the party line is a bastard and should be publicly labeled as such."

I didn't see where the Father didn't allow him to go to high school. Would you like to point out to me where it is written that a college education is a "right"?

The Father had a perfect right to take his stand. This little punk is milking the liberals by playing the "pathetic" card. He has made his choice, now he can live by it.

Manipulative, controlling parents suck, no matter what political stripe they sport

That was my initial reaction as well - then I remembered it is DAD'S money to do with as he pleases.

Kinda seems like he did 'Teddy' a favor anyway. The kid put his imagination to work and got people to give him money for college. (He didn't even have to get an actual job.)

I don’t agree that it’s “crass and manipulative.” His father is merely declining to subsidize something he believes will merely reinforce something that he doesn’t agree with.

As we have been repeatedly informed, people his age have incompletely formed minds. He confirms these findings with a vengenance.

“Any parent that would deny their child an education because they didn’t toe the party line is a bastard and should be publicly labeled as such. Yeah, it’s dad’s money. Dad had better hope that son is willing to ever speak to him again after shenanigans like that.”

Nobody’s denying this turd an education. I worked my way through college and so will my son. He’s trying to publicly humiliate his Dad because he’s not getting a free ride through school and has to work instead of partying. The kid wants a Master’s degree and thinks he’s gonna get it in 4 years. The Dad sounds pretty smart not wanting to throw away his money on an uneducable twerp.

The father sounds like a real jerk

Yawn.

(1) All we have here is the son's side of the story. We have no idea whetehr he is lying or not.

(2) He is not entitled to a college education - if his father isn't paying for him to go to college, his father probably has a good reason not to.

(3) The kid is a tool for publicly portraying his own father in such a negative light for money.

(4) The kid is a tool for being a Democrat and for being a Democrat for the pathetic reasons he cited for being a Democrat.

(5) Point four may suggest a whole host of other reasons why his father is unwilling to give him $100,000 to waste.

I'm waiting for the Dallas Morning News to do this piece:

Teen vowing not to be a Republican Democrat raises funds for Hillary Clinton Fred Thompson.

Like that would ever happen.

Stupid father

As opposed to the genius poster who believes that this attention-seeking snotnose must be telling the Gospel truth about his dad.

So tell your kid you will help and he/she starts doping or drinking. Do you continue to fund their partying? Is that reneging on your word in the same sense?

I have restrictions on what my children do with their lives if they want anything from me besides unconditional love. Meaning, I will always love them but if they make poor fiscal/social choices I will not bail them out. Literally if they go to jail for anything but self-defense related crimes plan on staying a while, no bail from me and they know that.

If my daughter/son turns lesbian/queer and wants to marry another gal/boy pal I will not forward a dime to that “union” any ceremony or anything else.

If they have gone bonkers before I die and are giving everything away to groups I do not approve of like cults, PETA, democrats they will not inherit as much as they think, I will give that money away to who/what I deem important if they do not want it.

Yeah, call me mean.
