"In January, the Obama campaign was forced to denounce Fox News for repeating a false Insight magazine report that he had spent fours years in an Indonesian madrasa, an Islamic school."

Was it three, or five, years? Besides, a true 'Manchurian candidate' would salute the US flag.

I find the lack of calling him back to Islam or fatwas disturbing.

the ancient Christian loathing of Muslims that predated by centuries the 1529 Ottoman Siege of Vienna

Well, loathing is sort of a loaded term. But aside from that:

Did Christians have a problem with Muslims before the Muslim conquest of Constantinople in 1453? How about before the Muslim Conquest of the Holy Land in 1077 (this is what started the Crusades)? Did Christians have a problem with Muslims before the Muslim conquest of Spain in about 700? How about before the Muslim wars against the Byzantine Empire in the 600's? Does the problem go back that far?

Boy, those Christians!

It also speaks to the post-9/11 revival of the ancient Christian loathing of Muslims that predated by centuries the 1529 Ottoman Siege of Vienna.

Our sure blame us for the Ottomans trying to take Vienna.

“”And an ugly undertone of the immigration debate has been the insinuation that efforts to restrict illegal immigration should focus on keeping out the “bad” Muslims who have overrun Europe, not the “good” Mexicans who only want to work here.””

Sounds like a white urban liberal fantasy how they wish their opponents would think.

that Muslim peoples are frequently stereotyped as ...particularly prone to violence and generally supportive of terrorism

Well...there is the terrorist thing.

And as to Obama, his leftist, wholly big government, socialistic/maxistic tendencies are more than enough for me to label him as another enemy to the basic value systems and innstitutions our republic rests on.

If that weren;t enough (and it most certainly is), then, for safety's sake, at a time when we are at war with abject muslim/islamic terrorists and those who support and abett them, I believe we would be foolish to elect a President who did attend muslim schools as a youth (regardless of the variety) named Hussein Obama. But that's just my own feeling and is no more hard to understand than being leary of any politician who had tried to be elected in 1942 named Tojo-san.

Total ignorance of the history of Muslim conquest. Clearly the editorial staff of the LAT had public school educations.

...and though his campaign has set the record straight repeatedly, last week the Washington Post ran a front-page story about Obama's "Muslim ties."

Mohammad did not attend a Indonesian madrassa either. So apparently he has no "Muslim ties". Like good liberal crackpots the LA Times can sure be oh-so-indignant while being dumber then a box of rocks.

In Muslim law, a child born to a Muslim father is a Muslim-period. There is no other option. This makes Obama a Muslim to 1.3 billion people.

Wouldn’t a Muslim father and Muslim step-father qualify as “Muslim ties”?

It is okay to question Mitt Romney’s qualifications because of his Mormonosity and it is okay to slur Mark Foley falsely as a child predator and by extension attack the GOP but we are supposed to ignore the possible indoctrination by the guy who refuses to wear a flag pin and to respect the flag of this country.

The LA Times has lied and fabricated news before, their words hold no weight.

The LA Times sees people who detest Islam as bigoted.

Actually people who do NOT denounce Mohammads' Islam are every bit as bigoted as those who refuse to denounce Hitler's Nazi party. Both men were evil tyrants who started a brutal reign of terror.

Today the liberals have grown the spine to denounce Hitler, because he is gone (also he had an early falling out with Stalin which used to be a liberal darling). But they don't have the spine to denounce the evil that is still alive and growing.

Now not every Muslim is evil, as not every "good German" was. But in both cases the movement was and is.

It also speaks to the post-9/11 revival of the ancient Christian loathing of Muslims that predated by centuries the 1529 Ottoman Siege of Vienna.

The Los Angeles Times writer is evidently a public school graduate and consequently unaware that by 1529 muslims had been at war with Christians for well over 800 years, and that they had fought their way into southern France within a few years of Mohammed's death.

Sometimes an irrational loathing is completely rational. But a journalism grad is almost always profoundly ignorant of the world he writes about.
