People aren’t really talking about this, and I hate to get a little religious here, but in the Bible it says that in the end times Iran and Russia would form an alliance (pretty much because of two common goals: Defeat American, and Control Jerusalem). It seems like this alliance is already in the works (as seen with Russia’s reluctance to agree to UN sanctions for Iran). Knowing that Bush is a pretty religious guy, I would be willing to bet a weeks pay that he is aware of the end-times scenario as depicted in the Bible. Maybe he doesn’t want to bomb Iran because doing so would put any chances of an alliance between Iran and Russia on the fast track.

Bring a sack lunch as we will spend the afternoon deciding on how we are going to split up the oil.

What's to decide? Israel get what it needs, we take all the rest.

This is in my opinion, simply playing the safe card (from a Bush perpective).
Given all the caterwauling over the “missing” WMDs (ask the dead Kurds if they existed and the Syrians where they are now), Bush is not going to go down as “historically wrong” wrong twice. Note: I don’t think he was wrong.

So, put in a little delay and let the next president have to deal with it.

Now you have 1.5 - 5 years til the Iranians have enough to cause severe problems.

In other words, I don’t think anything is going to be done about the Iranians - we have the official opinion on record now so that if a US city goes bye-bye, everybody can claim they knew nothing.

More head-in-the-sand diplomacy.

What we are now going to have to worry about, is who is going to have to pick up the huge can that He Of The Great Aircraft Landing has kicked down the road towards our grandchildren?

“So, put in a little delay and let the next president have to deal with it.”

I see what you’re saying, but I doubt Bush has enough confidence in the next administration (especially if it’s a DemocRAT) to take care of such a situation

I'm thinking the new information is that the CIA all along was supplying the technology to Iran via Syria, North Korea and/or Pakistan, and that, as with technology supplied to the Soviets during the other lukewarm war, was fundamentally and fatally flawed. So the CIA forces the embarassed president to do this:

“It doesn’t give me any warm fuzzies that anyone really knows what they’re talking about.”

When it comes to the posts on this thread, you can say that in spades.

The great discovery may be that intelligence agencies are determined to embarrass this administration.

BTW US intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA, have not had a stellar record since the days of Dulles.

Good news...the Bush Administrations foreign policy has WORKED. Our offensive strategy has taken nukes out of Libya, Korea, and Iran’s hand with no invasion....amazing.

That is a good “take” that will never get reported.

I said it six months ago...the world has decided to live with a nuclear armed Iran. It’s that simple.

“What’s your take on this?”

Saganite, there’s something important going on and none of us know what it is, nor will we know for quite some time.

My reading and connecting of dots has led me to believe for some months now that there will be no war with Iran. That could be a very good thing.

The reason for stepping back from a war with Iran right now would be confirmation that they already possess a nuclear capability and the means to deliver it. If that’s true I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. The Iranians won’t stand by while Israel still exists even knowing they would be eliminated in turn.

Late September 2007. Nuclear facility near Iraqi border. Israeli planes flattened the structure, which allegedly was a North Korean-Syrian-(Iranian) nuklear weapons facility.

Don’t worry..., Israel isn’t fooled like some of the intelligence agencies in the U.S. are.

“If that’s true...”

Well, there’s the problem, that phrase could be written about so many things. Your supposition could be correct, or there could be something else going on. We don’t know.

The question raised by this phrase you wrote-—”The Iranians won’t stand by while Israel still exists...”-—is:

Why would Israel just stand by if Iran has the weapon and the delivery system? The MAD policy is not viable here.

You see, there is something important going on here, but like Mr. Jones in Bob Dylan’s song, we don’t know what it is.

Gotta run for now, see you around.
