An elderly man was found near an escalator in the store, and police said a young black man was being sought as the suspected shooter. Early indications were that as many as five people may be injured.
Colby Barak told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she was on lockdown inside Westroads Mall. She said she was doing Christmas shopping at Younkers, and an announcement was made that no one would be allowed to leave.
Just before 2 p.m., Barrett said, another announcement was made that shoppers could leave but would not be allowed back in.
Dozens of police and sheriff's cars were arriving at the mall.
A description of the shooter, broadcast over scanners, was that he was in an Army-green vest and was holding a rifle.
Another Westroads shopper, Kathy, told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she heard three pops. She said a Bath and Body Works manager approached her and told her to get out of the mall hallway as there was a situation, and a shooter had not been located.
2007... However, cities have the right to make their won laws. Yeah, and city that doesn't like Ne CC law can make their own, and even refuse to allow CC.
In Omaha, BTW, you not only have to pass a state CC you have to pass a city CC ordinance.
This reminds me of the animal who killed all the Amish schoolchildren except jihad included.

Not unless most of them are breaking the law. Concealed carry only became legal this year. When it became legal, the State Patrol had not approved ANY courses needed to obtain the permit. The first ones approved were 5 or 6 hours drive away. The courses are just starting to become easily available now.
I’ve been assaulted twice in the mall where I live. Once in the ladies dressing room, when a crazed person kicked in the door (no locks on the door either). NO mall is safe. This year a woman was carjacked at the same mall. They’ve become hangouts for gangs and bored teenagers and the parking lots serve as opportunities for predators.
Shep said “suspect apprehended” on parkbench. In camo. He’s not black now though.
There’s going to be an ROP connection.
I didn’t even think about that! I was thinking of maryland shooters/beltway snipers. They’re now saying on fox that there is no longer a manhunt. that’s interesting to surmise that so quickly.
more and more cities are building strip shopping for reasons of ease and the fact of kid’s hanging out at malls and threats. I like them better, it is much easier to drive up to a strip shopping center and just walk 200 feet.
Sounds like they got him..
I agree!
“I carry a gun because I cant carry a cop.”
When a situation is life or death—and seconds matter,
the police should be there in a few minutes. `Should’.
When will Michael Chertoff announce that this was not terrorism? Tonight? Tomorrow? Nothing is ever terrorism. The elderly man was found by the escalator. Just damn.
somehow this will be blamed on glo-bull warming and possibly Bush.
May be ten people shot. Now 1 dead, ten shot. That animal was heavily armed.
Live grenade found at that mall last weekend?? Anyone know about that? (PMSNBC report).
“Hes not black now though.”
Once the guy’s been caught, I’m not sure why he should be identified as black, white, yellow, brown or whatever. What does it matter?
Why would MSNBC not have any audio? No audio for at least 5 minutes now, maybe more? I’m suspicious cuz it’s msnbc. Does General Electric own this mall???
We had a shooting at our local ward parkway mall (this year) in kansascity missouri. It was a white guy,and tragic. total random shooting. He had shot his neighbor, stole her car..and the shootings at the mall was the ending of his killing spree.
Probably the same dork that missed this standing buck in an open spot 3 times... Run Bambi run!
