An elderly man was found near an escalator in the store, and police said a young black man was being sought as the suspected shooter. Early indications were that as many as five people may be injured.
Colby Barak told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she was on lockdown inside Westroads Mall. She said she was doing Christmas shopping at Younkers, and an announcement was made that no one would be allowed to leave.
Just before 2 p.m., Barrett said, another announcement was made that shoppers could leave but would not be allowed back in.
Dozens of police and sheriff's cars were arriving at the mall.
A description of the shooter, broadcast over scanners, was that he was in an Army-green vest and was holding a rifle.
Another Westroads shopper, Kathy, told KETV NewsWatch 7 that she heard three pops. She said a Bath and Body Works manager approached her and told her to get out of the mall hallway as there was a situation, and a shooter had not been located.
Just got off the phone w/ my mother-in-law. She was in the store where the shooting took place about 15 minutes before the shooting. She didn’t know about it till she got home and saw the news on the TV.
I don’t watch msnbc so not sure why they have no audio?
Yeah, thats my point. So if they looked in my gun safe, I wonder what label they’d put on me? Or my WIFE’S SAFE... /snicker.

I will never forget that and it now proves the profilers need to renew their standards for profiling. (I will never forget them doing that...ever)

35-40 shots sounds a lot to me too - considering some of the reports are saying it was a rifle...? A handgun is quicker to reload, and probably less “obtrusive” than reloading a rifle. Unless it was a magazine fed weapon, I’d be surprised that many shots were fired. (Unless there were return shots from armed citizens.....)
Look. I am for the 2nd amendment but that’s a lot of victims if he wasn’t heavily armed. And, we’ll see how much ammo he didn’t use but was on his person. The guy had camo on and was hiding in the bushes for awhile. What a creep.
And the dreambeat that we need to outlaw handguns will be heard on all driveby media.
You should either avoid known dangerous places or carry something to protect you. It could be a man standing outside the restroom door, or a gun, or there are numerous creative manstoppers such as the dagger inside a hairbrush by Cold Steel, etc. Ideally, carry a man standing outside the door with a concealed gun. If that’s not practical, you gots to carry for yourself. And practice with whatever you carry until you can whip it out without thinking.

My guess is that Bush landed at Offut Air Base which is no where near Westroads Mall. I grew up near Omaha and lived there for 10 years.
Offut is the site of the Strategic Air Command. TONS of security there...don’t worry!
